Amazingly unique place! Old time building in a location filled with history. It definitely has a charm. Breakfast could be better for the money you pay for it, not bad but a bit thin, no vegetables for instance. Dinner on rhe terrace I recommend! The medieval town is also worth visiting really.
My fiancé ordered the chicken but it came just as a leg and thigh and no breast meat. For €27 it should have been half a chicken or at least some breast meat. It was well seasoned and tasted nice. |The steak was over done but appreciate this could be a translation issue. The flavour was lovely but it was tough. It was well seasoned. |The tart tatin was fantastic and the wine was very good. Unfortunately the service was very slow despite them having many staff.
Enjoyed a stopover here on our way from Calais to SW France as Beaugency was halfway. The hotel is a converted monastery and is a lovey place to stay- comfortable rooms that retain the Abby charm, with smart refurbished en-suite shower room with plenty of hot water. The location is perfect, with river views and close to the town for restaurants etc. Will definitely stay again.
This is an exceptional place to discover. First of all, Beaugency is a place to see for its rich cultural past and beautiful streets. Close to Orleans, it is an ideal stop over on your road to the south or while visiting the Loire valley. Secondly, the hotel is, on its own, worth a visit. This is a well restore abbey and you will sleep in the modernised cells from the monks with a stunning view on the Loire. The evening meal with wooden fire cooking inside the restaurant and the breakfast are also a unique experience. Visiting the hotel helps them to maintain this historic building which is another plus. Will return as often as we can.
A certainly different hotel in an old abbey just by the Loire. The rooms were perfectly fine, however we happened to stay there during a heat wave with temperatures well above 35 C and there was no air conditioning! But I suppose that this was still one of the better places to be. The food in the restaurant was excellent and so was breakfast. Absolutely worth a visit!
Perfect location! Stunning chambers and surroundings. Stayed here for one night on our way to Spain, we coudn’t have made a better choise. The Medieval abbey is a beautiful place to stay, next to the river Loire. The restaurant serves perfectly prepared meat, salmon and chicken roasted above a wooden fire. Breakfast is also perfect. Rooms are very high with good beds.
Amazing old Abbey. Lovely staff and incredible old building and location right on the Loire. Fantastic history in the Abbey. We ate there twice and the food and service was excellent. No restaurant there on Friday but there are numerous great restaurants nearby. The old Abbey has a lot of steps if you are on the second floor but the building is so insulated that it was incredibly cool in the 33 degree heat while we were there. Eating on the terrace is a treat and there's a lovely breeze that comes in off the river. We are a 56 yr old married couple with an old almost blind dog and loved it here. The breakfast was also very good and there's a lovely relaxed vibe in the bar.
We had a fabulous stay in this friendly hotel which is next to the abbey. Incredible architecture and period features and quirky decor. Delicious and varied buffet breakfast with pastries, different breads, lots of jams and honeys and yoghurt which was made at the abbey. Excellent service, would definitely recommend a stay here
