Nice setting and lovely building however WiFi not working and shower leaking. Very expensive and breakfast not included. Not worth the 500 EUR I paid every night. Also no double glazed so you can hear the staff setting up the tables for breakfast outside at 6am :-( not great really!
We enjoyed a wonderful 2 night stay here. It was quiet as it was off season but we loved our comfortable and cozy room and fabulous meals at the restaurant. The service at reception and in the restaurant was attentive and warm , gracious and professional. They toasted our anniversary with champagne at dinner and made us feel welcome and at home during our time there. We would love to return in another season!
My wife and I just had a superb Epicurean experience at this wonderful establishment.|The location setting is stunning, within beautiful grounds & gardens with the backdrop of the historic Abbaye. |Our room was the amazing General de Gaule suite - magnificent historic chambers, elegant furniture, gorgeous bed linen and bedding, lovely bathroom and huge dressing room. Remarkable.|We dined in the fantastic orangerie-style restaurant, opting for the top Signature Menu with Wine Pairings. Fabulous blend of delicious food, original flavours and textures, fresh locally sourced seasonal fare - all accompanied by a well matched selection of local Var and Provence wines. The fine restaurant ambiance and superb quality of service made the evening very special.|Breakfast was a treat - homemade jams and yoghurt, fresh baked bread, succulent fruit, tasty cooked hot dishes.|We are already planning to return in 2022
Booked for our wedding anniversary. The pool was full of dead wasps (I removed over 20 myself) - asked if it could be cleaned but no one came to sort it out. The restaurant meal was good quality but the service was average - we were not told what the tasting courses were as they were presented to us.||||The bedroom was so hot as the AC did not work and it was absolutely boiling! Not what you would expect given the prices! Wouldn’t recommend staying due to this as we had the most awful nights sleep. We informed the staff when checking out who gave us a free breakfast, which we appreciated but which didn’t really make up for the insufficient AC given the cost of the room.||||It was such a shame as we had high hopes for this visit!
Just avoid. We booked this place months ago as our first leg of our summer south of France trip but to also celebrate our wedding anniversary. Check in was fine (was a Sunday) and we ate in the restaurant night 1, food was ok but nothing to wright home about. We then go to bed and the aircon is blowing out hot air, it was 38 degrees that day and to not have sufficient aircon is just not acceptable, it’s Europe and it gets hot but we aren’t living in the ancient times. Next day we try to get into the hotel for dinner as we find out that literally nowhere in the whole area including brignoles is open for dinner. Place is full and the only option was to actually drive to McDonald’s 6 minutes up the road. So might 2 in lively Provence we are having McDonald’s in our room. Nobody told us nothing would be open Monday anywhere so we just weren’t to know. Second night we notice more issues with our room, towel rail falling off, the downstairs rug smelt like a mix of vomit and smelly dog it was horrible. And again second night was even worse we didn’t sleep at all due to the air con situation. Woke up on our wedding anniversary exhausted, having not slept at all. They thank god moved us the next day to a better room but even then air con was subpar. This place is a 1 night stop over to eat at the restaurant and even then I would say don’t. Food was average. Really sad we spent 4 nights in this place, really ruined the start of what was meant to be a lovely trip away. My advice to the hotel would be to prioritise the hotel not the restaurant. So many improvements could be made including being able to order lunch from the pool or drinks, having room service on Tuesday when you shut your restaurant and upgrading aircon. Also please dry clean your rugs in the room.
The hotel experience was a disaster! For a start It’s rather a 4* than a 5* hotel. The luxury touches of 5* hotel are missing and so is the service.||||It’s an okay place to stay for a one night if you want to have a dinner at the restaurant but not for longer. We booked the hotel because it had an Alain DuCasse restaurant but after we already made a reservation it turned out that restaurant is shut on Tuesday and Wednesday. After we got informed about that in the booking confirmation email we asked to cancel the reservation but where not allowed to cancel free of charge….||||Since the hotel restaurant was shut the reception offered to book a dinner in a nearby restaurant La Craie Des Mets, sadly the food at that restaurant was very average, overpriced and served cold, what’s worst it gave my partner a very serious FOOD POISONING. He had a sleepless night lying on a bathroom floor trying to survive the night. The next day was also lost as he still didn’t feel well and suffered with pain and diarrhea. Really not want you want on the first day of holidays in France…||||I did expect that the staff would go out of their way to try an offer a complimentary breakfast or help me to get a refund for this disgraceful meal we had after I told them what happened. But sadly this didn’t happen to the level of service you would expect from a 5* hotel.||||After an hour spend in front of reception desk the hotel staff had a few conversations with La Craie Dea Mets manager all I could hear is that “it’s not the restaurant fault that my partner got so sick” Which is a ridiculous statement… How could they even decency too say something like this?!|| He doesn’t have any food allergy and never had a reaction like that to a seafood so the food served must have been off or not prepared well!||||Very disappointed with how this case has been handled… definitely won’t recommend to stay here.
This is a perpect place Ive ever been privileged enough to stay. This was on the top of the list of stays/experiences ever. Staff was very hospitable .Excellent property the room was wonderful, clean and perfect to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Charming hotel. Of course the food is amazing one of the best .1 star Michelin .. Owned by Alain Ducasse.
I write with a great deal of sadness. My wife and I stayed at L’abbaye many times. Because of our love for L’abbaye, and our desire to introduce our children and grandchildren to your hotel and Provence, we planned a family celebration of our birthdays for this summer.|| Regrettably, L’abbaye fell far short of the impeccable standards of elegance we were accustomed to over the ||years. Service was subpar, the rooms suffered from a lack of quality control and functionality, and even the presentation of dinners lacked the artistic creativity and ||small but significant touches of refinement that always were present in our previous stays.|| Service. There were certain exceptions. Mr. Mongour ||was a pleasure to work with in planning for our visit and arranging our birthday party which unfortunately had to be canceled. He also was very cooperative when we checked ||in. The young women at Reception were also very helpful when they were there. Otherwise, there were serious lapses in service such as long waits for drinks in the late afternoon, ||at least three occasions when there was no one at Reception for extended periods and one instance when drinks were not restocked in the empty refrigerator in my ||son’s room. If memory serves, L’abbaye regularly served beverages before and after dinner in years past.|| Although there were suitable numbers of wait staff and ||assistants at dinners, service was still not up to the elegant standards we experienced during past stays at L’abbaye. A Sommelier who in past years always helped me select Var ||wines is no longer employed. In this connection, one night the server admitted she could not help me to select a wine. I asked her if there was someone who could help me. A few ||moments later, the General Manager came to our table and selected a nice wine. The server should have summoned him without my having to ask. |||| At breakfast, there must have been a misunderstanding between or among hotel mana
