Visiting the museum was an interesting and honestly refreshing experience: finally a space that not only showcase an incredibly rich collection, but makes sure that artists outside of Europe are represented, along with an impressive selection of women artists. The exhibitions are very well curated, with a special care in putting artists from different times and backgrounds in dialogue with each other. There are plenty of explanations to help the visitors understand what they are saying. My only critique is that the explanations could be written in a style more accessible to the public - sometimes it can be difficult to read and follow for visitors that don't already have a background or an habit of visiting this kind of exhibitions. Other than that, keep up the good work! We need spaces like this now more than ever. Thank you.

The MAC/CCB (Museum of Contemporary Art at the Centro Cultural de Belém) is an outstanding museum and easily one of the most rewarding cultural experiences in Lisbon. The collection is impressive and thoughtfully curated, moving seamlessly between modern and contemporary masters. Seeing works by artists like Max Ernst, Mondrian, Modigliani, Fernand Léger, and Roy Lichtenstein all in one place is remarkable. Highlights include Francis Bacon’s Oedipus and the Sphinx after Ingres, which is haunting and intense, Andy Warhol’s iconic Brillo Boxes, and Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Pater, full of raw energy and symbolism. David Hockney’s painting, with its emphasis on stillness and quiet observation, offers a beautiful counterpoint to the more explosive works. The space itself is elegant, calm, and well-lit, allowing the art to breathe. A must-visit for anyone interested in modern and contemporary art.

An excellent modern art museum with a diverse and inspiring collection. I really enjoyed seeing both classic artists like Van Gogh and contemporary creators exploring important topics such as ecology, identity, and social issues. The exhibitions were thoughtfully curated and gave a lot to reflect on. The only downsides were the unfriendly staff at the ticket desk and reception, the lack of a cash payment option for tickets, and the absence of clear signs and directions for visitors inside the museum. However, the gallery attendants inside the exhibition halls were very kind and welcoming, which made the visit more pleasant.

This was a wonderful selection of modern art ❤️ There was everything from your textbook artists to some really beautiful textile and reflective performance/video pieces. Incredibly reasonable ticket prices IMHO. I will def be visiting this place when I come back to Lisbon 🥰

Wonderful time visiting this museum/ art gallery - was surprised by how quiet it was Highly recommend Floor 2 was the only one worth to see in my opinion, other floors were “trash” displayed as art, able to be done by a child

Beautiful place with lots and lots of art pieces. Deserves more than one day for a visit!

Great, not too large (hence doable) exhibition dedicated to the art of the 20th century, well organized and presented. Slightly and surprisingly small and darker rooms (I prefer light and air) are probably the only minus. It’s also a beautiful area with nice shops, a big educational center, and concerts, so I’m going to explore it a bit more next time 🙂

Stopped by for the permanent exhibition opening night. NGL, it was way better than the previous!!!
