UNISTELLAR

I received my eVscope in September 2020 after being an early backer of the project on Kickstarter. Since then I have regularly put it to the test from within my home city (Bortle class 7-8) and from the mountain side (Bortle class 2-3). It is impressive how the eVscope achieves almost similar results on deep sky objects under both skies. One feature I really appreciate is that one can participate easily in citizen science projects, like observing asteroid occultations or exoplanet transits, because the eVscope is connected to the Unistellar scientific community led by professional astronomers for analysing the collected data. The Unistellar eVscope is the perfect instrument for users who appreciate ease of setup & use, mobility and connectivity. Its unique features make it interesting not only for beginners but also advanced amateur astronomers. The eVscope combines a portable go-to telescope with a deep sky camera and internet connectivity, all into one package. I think everyone can quickly use it to its full potential, wherever one is based, avoiding the steep learning curve for astrophotography and astronomy.

I have been an amateur astronomer for decades and have had several telescopes, mainly 200 mm Schmidt-Cassegrains. These telescopes are heavy and difficult to move. Setting them up and polar aligning them is also difficult and time-consuming. I received my eVscope recently and I can truly state that this is a wonderful telescope, lightweight and easy to move. Setting it up and aligning it with the stars is also very easy and can be done in a few minutes. In my opinion, the eVscope is a revolution in astronomical telescope design and is truly the telescope of the future.

I own telescopes for more than twenty years, but it took until 2016 before I started observing DSO systematically. Before that I was mostly stuck with the moon and some planets. When I learned about the eVscope and its Kickstarter campaign, I immediately decided to become a backer (although I was a little bit late and the price had risen...), because I was convinced that it was a good solution to my observation needs: It promised to be easy to use, to show DSO in color, and to show many DSO that I had searched for in vain visually, particularly nebulae and galaxies. With my visual telescopes, I had primarily become an observer of open and globular star clusters (plus the moon and the Orion Nebula)... When I discussed my decision for the eVscope with fellow hobby astronomers and my dealer, most of them were sceptical or even rejected the idea of such a kind of telescope: inflexible, poor image quality, high price, toy were some of the arguments put forth, as well as that the eVscope would make astronomy too easy. Good results should require some effort. Such telescopes would make people "stupid", and so on... Up to now, I have never regretted my decision to acquire the eVscope. It has provided me with experiences that none of my visual telescopes has provided (but I still like to observe visually) and I would not give the eVscope back - except for an even better version of it!
