Today I visited the Colosseum of Arles, and I was truly impressed by this remarkable historical monument. It was the first time I had the opportunity to visit such a well-preserved and nearly complete Roman amphitheater. For an entrance fee of only €11, it is definitely worth a visit. You can clearly see that the monument is carefully maintained, with restoration work visible in several areas where new stones have been added. What I also found fascinating is that the venue is still actively used for events. During my visit, temporary stands had been installed, showing that this historic site continues to play an important role today. A wonderful place where history really comes to life. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Arles.

I loved this place. Walking around the inner part gave you a real sense of what it was like for the gladiators, as well as for the people when this was a living mini town. The stadium is still used for events including bull fights (non violent ones), so there is a modern structures and seating all the way round. Still flipping cool though. Don't miss this one

A very impressive ruin of an ancient Roman arena, sadly much of it has been lost over time but the reason why is equally fascinating… well worth a look inside, there are endless ways to explore the arches and steps and towers and little passageways here and there. The views of the city from inside and through the arcades are also fantastic, make sure you walk around the whole thing inside and out—not to be missed!

Its amazing that it still stands today! Not too long of a walk to go around the entire arena. And you can go around from either the bottom, middle, or top sections of the arena.

We were in Arles for a photography festival. The festival was pretty diverse in themes, thus might interest a large number of people. The added bonus is that we were able to see spots as festival locations we would miss if we were to stick to main tourist attractions. Arles is a very old Roman city worth visiting.

The Arles Amphitheatre (Arènes d’Arles) is one of the most impressive historical sites in southern France and an absolute must-visit when exploring the city. Built around 90 AD during the Roman Empire, this grand arena once hosted gladiator battles and large public spectacles, accommodating more than 20,000 spectators. Despite its age, the structure remains remarkably well-preserved and gives you a vivid glimpse into the scale and engineering brilliance of ancient Rome. Walking through the arches and corridors feels like stepping back in time, but the real highlight is the panoramic view from the top of the tower. I highly recommend climbing up , but once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with a spectacular 360-degree view of Arles’ rooftops, the Rhône River, and the surrounding Provençal landscape. It’s the best place to appreciate both the amphitheatre’s architecture and the beauty of the old town. Overall, this is a fantastic historical site worth every minute of your visit. Whether you love Roman history, photography, or simply exploring unique landmarks, the Arles Amphitheatre is a destination you won’t want to miss.

Incredible to think this structure has stood for over 2,000 years definitely worth seeing from the outside. Going inside, however, is a bit underwhelming. There isn’t much to look at, and the lack of information or context means your visit will likely be very quick!

Very cool site! Incredible scale. Check the schedule, they have events. We were able to see a gladiator show!
