This was one of the highlights to our trip to Normandy (April '26). The Falaise Gap was the decisive battle that eventually pushed the Germans out of the region and ultimately out of France. This museum tells the story very well with lots of military artifacts. This is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

This little museum is so worth a visit. A superb video explains what happened here at the closing battle of the Normandy campaign along with hundreds of items of interest. Very friendly and helpful staff and plenty of parking. The views are superb.

I recently visited this muesium , and it was a powerful and deeply moving experience. Located on Hill 262 in Normandy, the museum overlooks the battlefield of the Falaise Pocket, where decisive fighting took place during the final stages of the Battle of Normandy in August 1944. The panoramic view alone makes the visit worthwhile, helping visitors truly understand the strategic importance of the site. The exhibitions are well organized, modern, and informative. Through detailed maps, personal testimonies, photographs, and multimedia presentations, the museum clearly explains the complexity of the battle and the role played by Allied forces, especially the Polish 1st Armoured Division. The displays strike a good balance between military strategy and human stories, which makes the history feel real and personal rather than distant. What impressed me most was the atmosphere of respect and reflection throughout the memorial. It honors the soldiers who fought and sacrificed their lives while encouraging visitors to think about the cost of war. Overall, the Mémorial de Montormel is an essential visit for anyone interested in World War II history. I would highly recommend it.

Spent hours here when I visit the place for the first time. Walking around the same hill with black & white pictures in hand, where "our boys" have fought and fallen, was a powerfull experience. Visit to the Polisih Military Cemetry in Langannerie some 40 minutes away is also a must. Walk every single row, read every single name, short salute at the gate... "To those whom fate, on French soil, cut off from the path of battle to the Most Glorious Republic"

Great museum with a breat-taking view over the former battlefield.

Informative, but small museum. Would recommend to those interested in events post D-Day and the Battle for Normandy

Very good, small, modern style battle museum, built on one of the key points of the Battle of the Falaise Pocket in 1944, where the Polish 1st Armoured Division tried to close the door on the retreating German Armies. Excellent views out over the battlefield; good small bookshop (although most books, naturally, in French). Two excellent multimedia presentations to watch on the battle. Free car parking and toilets available if you pay to enter the museum.

A very under visited museum in Normandie. Most people visit the landing beaches and miss this very fine exhibition that illustrates the unbelievable horror of the Allies crushing German forces in ' the pocket' . A Sherman tank, Greyhound armoured car. Full high quality video footage inside the museum with excellent local guides who's families were actually there. Not to be missed on your Normandy tour .
