Absolutely breathtaking. Even if you’ve seen other major cathedrals in France, Notre-Dame d'Amiens stops you in your tracks. The sheer scale of the interior is jaw-dropping. The nave feels like it reaches the heavens, and the light filtering through is beautiful. The stone carvings on the main facade are incredibly detailed and worth spending time studying. It’s much less crowded than its Parisian counterpart, allowing you to actually walk through, appreciate the history, and take in the architecture in relative peace. A must-visit if you are in town!
Very beautiful Cathedral, maybe one of the most impressive ones in France. The high ceilings, the vitrals, the sculptures, everything is amazing. Going up to the tower to see the views is also highly recommended. This is a must visit when in Amiens.
Wow. What a great site that looks great on a drive-by visit. It is phenomenal inside.y research said this was the largest church in France - even larger than the Notre Dame in Paris. It is well cared-for by the staff. The area outside the church is also nice and well maintained. Free WC located just next door in the visitor center.
I can't believe I'm reviewing a cathedral, but Amiens is the most beautiful one I've seen in France. Or maybe anywhere. The outside isn't as ornate as Rouen, but the inside is much more beautiful and doesn't have all the war damage. It's truly breathtaking. Avoid the lines at Notre Dame de Paris and come to Amiens instead. Seriously.
We climbed up the tower and had an excellent view on the city. The cathedral itself is very beautiful/overwhelming and it is huge! We enjoyed our stay there - it is worth while visiting.
Gorgeous building well worth a visit, the stained glass is breathtaking! Also if you’re able to climb the 300 odd stairs up the tower you’ll get amazing views of the city. Our guide, Manon, was very knowledgable and her English excellent, she put up with all of our annoying questions with good humour, she made our day!
Impressive Cathedral. One of the best I have seen and I have visited many in France and Italy. Free and not crowded early morning on a Thursday in March. Well worth the visit and a must see in town.
Fabulous, incredible church. That's the reason I'm trying to visit new French cities each time: each Gothic church is a masterpiece.
