Avis
Great high-altitude resort that is very snow-safe throughout the season. The lift system is mostly modern and provides excellent access to the other valleys, specifically Méribel and Courchevel. A few tips for your visit: - Wind & Weather: Because of the altitude, winds can be very strong at the top. Be prepared for the links to other valleys to close for several days during the week depending on conditions. - Crowds: Crossover points between valleys get busy, and the 9:00 AM rush when ski schools start can be chaotic. - Bag Checks: Be aware that on the two lifts leading toward the La Folie Douce (Plein Sud and Pionniers), staff sometimes perform bag checks. They seem focused on stopping people from taking their own alcohol up to the bar area rather than general on-piste safety. Interestingly, there are no bag checks on any other lifts in the resort. - Safety Warning: I highly recommend avoiding the Plein Sud piste at the end of the day (around 5:00 PM). It becomes very crowded with people skiing down from the Folie Douce who may be intoxicated, which can make that specific run quite dangerous. Overall, a brilliant resort with great infrastructure, just stay alert to the afternoon crowds and the mountain weather!
Best ski resort to go to regardless of how good you are, if you feel you need to work on technique, it's perfect, if you want to go and do park jumps, it's perfect. Apres ski, the best I've been too, if you are a beginner I would stick to the lower blues as some can become too tough. Apart from the fact there's endless piste to go on, I highly recommend
Exceptional ski resort with good snow conditions in March. The town has everything, great bars and restaurants, activities for families and adults, ESF school has brilliant instructor. The slopes are perfect for all abilities with the option of a 3 valley pass to ski to other resorts. Love the Val Thorens vibe
A very good ski resort. From beginners to advanced skiers, you can find good trails that will suit you. Also a very nice apres ski. Lots of hotels offers ski-in ski-out. Val thorens offers ski options when other ski resorts are already closed for the season.
Not so good as everybody thinks so, it's a relatively big ski resort, for my regrets if it's snowing they don't arrange the slopes so you can ski on them the next day, the maps the numbers and the names of the slopes are very confusing, there is no logic whatsoever, for snowboarders there is a lot of flat parts which is hard to pass if you don't have speed, I really liked the restaurant all over are very good but they don't serve you what you want only on specific hours, they have a very good application that you can find yourself on the map and it's even can track you down, this is the best way to get around
GREAT skiing place, There are lots of different level slopes so it doesn’t really matter what level you are in skiing. If you like to go off road there are also A LOT of cool and fun trails. There are also very nice ski instructors from the different ski schools. You should also definitely visit because of their amazing food; all the restaurants are EXTRAORDINARY.
Epic place to ski early in the season. Beautiful mountains. Incredibly well organized enterprise from hotels, restaurants, equipment rental, information, ski pass, bars, etc. Very friendly service everywhere. Amazing vibe.
Breathtaking views, wide slopes, highest elevation resort in Europe, fast lifts and gondolas lots of natural snow, off piste capabilities...what else is there to say, although not quite as good as Courchevel, it's a no brainer to visit it The town is amazing, it never sleeps and there are parties going on everywhere, so good for young folks I don't usually give 5 star rating but Val Thorens definitely deserves it
