PLACE D'AUSTERLITZ in Ajaccio, Corsica: According to legend, Napoleon spent many hours of his childhood at Place d’Austerlitz, also known as Place du Casone in memory of an old building which once stood here. The young boy was fascinated by important historical characters and is said to have dreamt of conquest and glory in a large cave here now known as “Napoleon?s grotto”. The statue of Napoleon was erected in 1938 and is the work of the sculptor Seurre; the emperor’s victories and achievements are inscribed on the pedestal of the statue.
Lovely place to visit quite very relaxing friendly people 👍
Interesting place to see, though there isn't really much here being the statue of Napoleon
Ajaccio Corsica is a beautiful little town with plenty to see and do. From monuments of Nepoleon, stunning views, fantastic buildings and many cafés. It's definitely well worth a visit.
Great views from the top and lovely surroundings
In Ajaccio had trip round on the train. Lovely beach, had a dip in the sea
Great space to walk around, with a large stage where they perform performances, presiding over the square is a statue of Napoleon. The tourist train makes a stop to take photos.
Worth to visit the great statue of Napoleon.
