A must if you are in the champagne region. The stained glass windows with serenity was breathtaking. This cathedral houses a special stained glass window by artist Mark Chagall.

This cathedral has all of the beauty and history (perhaps even more!) of the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris without the terrible crowds. There was no line to go inside and it is huge and open so you could sit quietly and reflect or walk leisurely around to view the cathedral inside. The double rose windows in the front are spectacular, and it has some unique more modern stained glass windows designed by Marc Chagall and others that are just gorgeous. I highly recommend a visit.

The cathedral is really beautiful especially from the outside - it has a lot of details which are super interesting to watch and discover. Inside it’s quite simple and there isn’t anything very interesting except maybe one wall with the stained glass. I recommend strolling around but not necessarily going inside

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Reims is one of the most important Gothic cathedrals in France and a symbol of French history. It was built mainly in the 13th century, after an earlier church on the site was destroyed by fire in 1210. For centuries, it was the traditional coronation place of the kings of France, including Charles VII in 1429, in the presence of Joan of Arc. The cathedral is famous for its beautiful stained-glass windows, detailed sculptures, and its impressive façade, including the well-known “Smiling Angel.” It was badly damaged during the First World War but was carefully restored. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the main landmarks of Reims.

Being from Washington DC, and having also been to York, England, relatively recently, it was great to see the cathedral inin Reims. The cathedrals in all three cities are Gothic-style with very similar layouts and overall size (within a few meters of each other) yet all very different. It was very interesting to see this historic French iteration of a Gothic cathedral. Do not miss it if you are there. Especially if you’ve had a glass of champagne first.

Truly one of a kind. You don’t see many (none) of these in the US, as I only come across squares and rectangles in my country. The thought and intricacy behind each square inch is truly immaculate. Definitely a must see 🤩

Majestic cathedral and absolutely worth visiting. You can easily spend hours admiring the many carvings around the building, each telling a story and taking you back several hundred years. The inside is just as impressive, with incredibly high ceilings and beautiful stained glass. There was no wait when we visited, and entry was free. Highly recommended.

We visited Notre Dame the first time in 2004. Then we were in Paris a few years ago while it was being renovated after the fire. So I was looking forward to see it after opening again the end of last year.
