Absolutely shocking. I broke down in France an hour away from Paris. Managed to get recovered by someone else to take me to a garage. I arranged to be taken to Calais port by their recovery truck on the day of going home, unfortunately they could not take me onto the ferry. The lovely people at Irish ferry reception helped me to purchase another recovery truck they knew of. He was absolutely awful, he moaned about having to help me and moaned he had to go to the ferry. They eventually persuaded him to take me, he took me to the lane, shouted at me to speak French, requested payment, took my car off the truck and left me in the lane. Irish ferry’s apologised and done anything they could to get me on to my ferry. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY IF YOU HAVE BROKEN DOWN THEY ARE RUDE, TAKE YOUR MONEY AND LEAVE YOU STRANDED. As a single parent travelling France on my own for the first time and unfortunately broken down, I have never been treated so badly in my life. STAY CLEAR!!!!!!!
Extremely poor experience. I was charged nearly €1,400 for a short motorway recovery, including a questionable €441 fee that was not clearly justified. Even more concerning, I was refused access to my own belongings, including perishable food stock for my business, unless I paid the full amount first. When I contacted the police, I was advised to pay the invoice before being able to recover my goods, which left me with no real choice and put my business at risk. This situation felt very unfair and stressful, especially as a foreign driver. I strongly recommend others to ask for full transparency on charges and be cautious in similar situations.
We broke down near Calais as heading to Eurotunnel, and couldn’t get anyone to help us over a period of hours. I eventually found Garage Dépannauto on Google, got through to someone quickly who helpfully was able to speak English to me, and had a skilful and helpful gentleman out with his tow truck in 10 mins. Excellent service when we were in a difficult spot, highly recommended.
Good service, very busy office but nice friendly people!! Big problem, lot of money, but a fixed car. Now off to our vacations destination.
Our little UK family found ourselves unexpectedly stranded on the hard shoulder of the A16 last week. Right at the start of our holiday, having just come off the Eurotunnel. Turns out our Nissan Qashquai had a failed clutch and flywheel! Problem was we had let our AA membership expire and had forgotten to renew it and we also now know it’s impossible to join them, or the RAC, roadside in France!!! Thankfully, a swift call to 112 led to Garage Depannauto coming to our aide and around ten minutes later they were loading our broken Nissan onto their tow truck and seating our family of four safely in the large cab of the truck. They also took care of the repair for us and although it wasn’t cheap, it was very fair in comparison to what other garages would have to charge for the same repair (even in the UK). They also knew we were on a deadline because we needed to return to the UK once we’d completed the remainder of our holiday in seven days time. They worked extremely hard to bring in the right parts from Belgium (not easy as it was Summer holiday season!) and managed to fix our car in time for us to get home. All in all, fantastic service from everyone involved at Garage Depannauto. They have some English speaking staff and were superb throughout. Easy 5 stars and more than happy to recommend if you’re in trouble with your vehicle near Calais.
Excellent service and reasonable prices. David (who speaks good English) came to our rescue when clutch and gearbox failed at Calais. Car was towed and repaired at their garage while we continued our holiday in a hire car. Upon collection there was a small issue with a turbo hose coming loose which they diagnosed and repaired in half an hour, at no extra cost (otherwise I would give 5 stars).
I can't begin to describe my experience with this garage: they're kind, clever, they really care for their clients. I had just what I thought was a little accident and another repair shop told me that in France it was impossible to find spare parts for a Honda, that the drive shaft was broken and they offered to demolish the car. Nothing of all that. Not only the staff of Depannauto was able to repair the car, but they showed me they really cared for their clients; they were quick, they found the spare parts, abd repaired and tested the car to be sure it was safe to drive. And they speak English. Kudos to you!
