A little investment in infrastructure is needed. Some of the upper pistas are quite narrow, and somewhere there are no fences at the edges, only poles for marking, and poor visibility due to fog or snow creates a feeling of discomfort even for more experienced skiers. The staff at the ski resort itself is extremely friendly and helpful, the prices in the restaurants are ok, coffee and tea are just under €5.

Orcières Merlette is a fantastic ski resort that offers everything you could want for a perfect winter getaway! The slopes are well-maintained and suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced skiers. It also boasts stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Alps. Beyond skiing, there are plenty of additional activities like ice skating, sledding, and swimming pools, making it great for families. The organization and accessibility are excellent, and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommended for an unforgettable winter holiday!

Don't support the dog abuse here. The poor things are underweight & have no stimulation other than being forced to run all day. It's saddened a lovely holiday & darkened the beauty of the place. The dogs feet are red raw & they only put 2 dogs to drag a sled with 2 people, the dogs were clearly working so hard & exhausted. They are kept in a tiny pen, chained when not "used" & just bark & bark endlessly. It made me really sad to see. Don't pay for this & help put a stop to animal abuse please. On the positive side though, the resort runs well, lots of natural places to explore on foot & on skis. The lifts work perfectly, the queues aren't too long (the first week of January) & the staff are kind to beginners. The views are stunning. The lifts in the apartment buildings are an absolute joke, especially on Saturday. You can't even take the stairs, as they're emergency exits only to get back into the building. Also, there's not much to do by way of shops in the village, the place is tiny & only has a small corner shop, some restaurants, expensive skiing equipment shops & 2 souvenir shops.

Amazing ski resort, I can't comment on the stay since I went there for a day, but the ski slope are amazing there. Even more for someone like me, who is relatively new to skiing but still good enough to do the European blue slopes. Had a fun day at the resort and I would definitely go again.

Great ski center especially for families with children. Convenient location of accommodation on the slope, free advantage in the price of the ski pass (skipas horizont) entrance to the pool and skating. You need to wear a licra swimsuit to the pool! Skate rental is also free. We are happy to come back here.

Summer visits. We took the lifts to the top and walked down. Great views and nice walk (3 to 4 hours walk), nice lakes and well indicated paths, art work integrated to the environment to see on your descent. Good day trip if in the region
