My wife had a major back operation on the 13th of March. The operation lasted 4 hours and she remained in the ICU for 24 hours and then moved to a room for recovery. The care from the nurses was excellent and her surgeon visited most days of her 10 nights of care to check on her progress. She had physio-therapy most days to assist with restoring her mobility. Her discharge went well with all the relevant papers provided to continue recovery and checks at home.

As tourists, we received prompt and superb attention last night in Emergency. I can't speak more highly of the medical and nursing staff who looked after my sister - merci beaucoup once more!

Try to avoid the emergency service! Came in on Sunday at 22.00h - didn't see a doctory by 03.00h! Still waiting. And there were not many emergency cases worse than me meanwhile. Are they on strike or what?

Terrible staff, rude and ignorant nurses. I arrived with ambulance at 3 am and it is 9:30 am and still no doctor to come and see why I am here. I have a flight later and want to know if I need a surgery today or not. Then I can inform my work and family. Still no examinations! The staff simply ignore the patience! Never had this experience before.

I love Bordeaux and the gentleness of the people living there. Gentle and caring doctors/staff. The room was very hot but luckily a fan was provided.

The staff were patient despite my poor grasp of French, I had to wait for a couple of hours since my situation was a bit unusual (continuation of post-exposure rabies treatment on a day when the Infectious Disease Ward was closed) but the doctors made sure I still received my scheduled vaccine, all in all a quite decent experience though the hospital is expectedly very busy and can be almost labyrinthian, luckily we were handed a map of the complex at reception.

Very good medical corpus but the premisses are in an appalling state: doctors can't access files on obsolete computers, bedrooms are insanely small, beds are also totaly obsolete and (actualy a piece of megal have wounded me at the back) windows can't be closed and hygiene is very much questionable. Go for it because of excellent consultants but not for the environment of the patients!

Sorry. Please excuse my lack of competent French. Whilst my wife and I were on holiday at Cap Ferret she became seriously ill and had to be admitted to 'Tripod'. She spent five and a half weeks there until she was well enough to go home. The care that she received was superb. Even though we only had a basic grasp of French everyone was very patient with us and their use of and knowledge of our language put us to shame. The 5 stars say it all. Bravo! Vive la France.
