I stayed at "Sweet Home", Cabourg, in 2019. I'm a vegetarian and as far as meals were concerned, I had a miserable (and hungry!!) week. I felt they didn't acknowledge that vegetarians existed. However (fortunately) I did not go there for the food. ||||My real issue with "Sweet Home" is over the problems I have had in obtaining a refund from them for a holiday supposed to take place in June 2020, but cancelled because of COVID restrictions, ||As required by French law, at the time of cancellation "Sweet Home" sent us credit notes valid for 18 months. We were not able to use these so, again in accordance with French Law, at the end of 18 months we asked for the refund of our deposits. This was at the end of November 2021. ||The Hotel said they would make the refunds but nothing happened. I emailed them several times and each time was promised payment within a few days, In mid February - two and a half months after the refund became due - I emailed the local tourist office who contacted the hotel. On 22 Feb of this year the Hotel promised to pay "within 10 days or so". I did not receive the payment within that timescale and the hotel did not reply to my emails, so I contacted the Tourist Office again. ||The Tourist Office said the hotel claimed to have made the payment on 10 March but I have still not received it.||It is possible that the payment went astray, I paid the deposit initially by credit card, but the hotel decided to make the refund by the International payment system. I had not used this system before and I initially supplied an incomplete IBAN number. I would have expected the person making payments at the hotel to be familiar with the format of number required and to be able to spot this, but perhaps they did not. ||My Bank has told me that if the hotel did in fact make the payment and it went astray, they (the hotel) should trace and recall it. My Bank assures me this is common practice. The hotel has not replied to my requests to them t
Great location with direct beach access. The hotel is primarily frequented by retirees and families with young children. The breakfast is decent, but improvements could be made in terms of replenishment and cleanliness of the cutlery. The welcome is friendly. The duplex room is well-designed, but there is a problem with sound insulation. The pool is nice, but it could use a few more chairs to better accommodate guests
We only went for Saturday buffet. Great seafood options. Everything looked fresh. They refill quite often during the evening. Friendly staff. Very clean and open main room. Nice view. Only the desert section could use more option (donut, fruits, 3 types of cakes).
Booked at last minute as we were "bounced" from the Auberge de L'Abbaye in Le Bec-Hellouin (see separate review). The best thing about it is the location - close to the beach (through a gateway accessed by a code from Reception). The room we were first shown looked like a hospital ward and that's the feeling of the whole place - is it a former sanatorium? We asked the receptionist if there was another room as we didn't feel we could stay in a hospital environment for two nights! We were shown another room - their last one, apparently - which was more acceptable but still very basic. Even then, someone had obviously laid on the bed and used the soap and towel in the ensuite before our arrival. The shower room had been refurbished and the shower worked well. We walked along the promenade each evening into Cabourg which is a lovely place - amazing houses and lots of restaurants, bars and shops. We can recommend a meal at Le Baligan at 8 rue Alfred Piat. Great fish and friendly service.
Hotel is dated and inside is almost hospital like..like a care home. Although it looks impressive from the outside and is set in huge gardens. Looks deceive. Its right next to the beach and a long but easy walk to the centre..however you can't check in until 5 pm...which is the latest I have ever heard off.. Then only one person is on the desk to deal with check ins..so your lucky to be in your room for 530..no in room water or kettle and no machines in reception at night to get even a drink of water if when the reception closes. One room did have half drunk bottles of coke in it..but im guessing that was from a previous guest....pool is closed on Saturday and Sunday morning..bathroom and toilet could do with some ventilation as they both smelled clammy..couldn't really recommend.
What a fabulous place it is...... can't describe it in the words....just loved it.
Very nice facilities. Tennis, swimming-pool, mini golf
Super
