We initially went on Sunday (closed) because the Google Maps hours had not been updated, but the property was so beautiful we had to come back the following morning. Gruff but actually quite friendly and very informative proprietor who will if available give a great tour of the property. We learned a lot about calvados with a humorous flair. Great tastings available thereafter with many kinds of vintages of cider and calvados available for purchase, as well as lavender grown on the land. Not very many small bottles available — we had flights upcoming in our itinerary that we planned to be carry-on-only so we only had a limited selection to buy from. If you have checked luggage or you’re visiting entirely by car there are many great (full size) options accessible.
A very nice visit with warm welcome. The owner spoke (in very good English) about the history and development of the place and the estate. A very pleasant and delicious tasting experience – very good ciders and calvados.
Familie Dupont was recommended to me by the owners of a local cider farm that I had toured earlier that day. A wonderful recommendation indeed! I came in without an appointment on a Tuesday afternoon (I work in the hospitality and tasting room in Napa, CA so I knew the possibility of being turned away without an appointment) but I was still able to taste some cider and very old Calvados! It was lovely to see family run distillery and to try a champagne style cider. I am so glad I stopped by because they sell personal sized bottles of cider. And I was able to enjoy that together with some local cheese late that evening Highly recommend visiting if you are in the area. Always try to call ahead of time still, I might have gotten lucky because I was just a single guest!
We had a wonderful visit to Domaine Dupont! Especially enjoyed our tour and tasting with Matthieu, who was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. We enjoyed all of the ciders and calvados that we tried — the quality was excellent. Visiting the distillery was certainly one of the highlights during our time in the Pays d’Auge!
An excellent example of traditional Calvados, Pommeau and Cider...as well as apple juice and apple cider vinegar! Save this gift for yourself!! **Buy the Calvados spritz for all of your desserts- don't miss**
Decided to visit while nearby in Normandy, knowing we didn’t have an appointment and fully expected to just be able to check out the store. Very pleasantly proven wrong! The owner told us where we could walk around the cidery to see the different areas and the apple trees, even taste the apples! Then, he very kindly led us through a tasting of the ciders and calvados which were incredible! He was so kind and really took the time to explain the subtle differences between the different types. We were able to purchase some to go and also purchase a bottle to enjoy outside on the estate while enjoying the beautiful day and scenery. Highly highly recommend!!
Excellent find, well worth the visit. A 5th generation cidery with vintages going back 50+ yrs. Their ciders (cidre), calvados and creams were all very tasty in their own rights. We ended up with a few bottles of their Cider Bouche, a bottle of their creme (better than Bailey's) & a balsamic like vinegar. They have a beautiful grounds and we enjoyed a stroll through the orchard after our tasting.
The sommelier was very knowledgeable and introduced us to many wonderful flavors. We can't wait to return.
