I had the pleasure of being interrogated by a cashier because she wanted to know what I had in my bags( I was in Lidl prior to this and bought items) Apparently my explanation was not enough. She had to make a fuss and call over several of her colleagues. Thank goodness for receipts and lidl carrying their own brands. Otherwise, I'd be locked up for grocery theft.

Well-stocked with a wide range of produce, large parking area, convenient to the main road. However, the culture shock was that it appeared quite normal for the checkout personnel to wait while the locals suddenly remembered they'd forgotten something during the checkout process. No rush to fetch the missing items and the checkout operator just waited patiently. Evidently standard practise as I noticed the same was occurring at the other checkouts. This happened twice whilst I was only 3rd in the queue. Many payments also appear to be made by foid vouchers, which need checking and whilst neither of the two customers in front of me had large baskets, I waited 25 minutes in the queue. All that can be said is that I was the "foreigner" in this quarter of largely French colonial immigrants and when in Rome, one must do as the Romans.
