Terrible experience with AVIS AJACCIO. We had a very disappointing experience when trying to pick up our rental car from AVIS Ajaccio. We had carefully selected a car with the clear condition that the deposit would be €200. However, upon arrival at the AVIS counter, we were told that the required deposit was actually €700. The staff threatened to cancel our booking if we didn’t comply. When we asked to speak to a manager, we were told to wait for Laila, the shift supervisor. Despite the AVIS office being no more than 100 meters from the airport, we had to wait over 20 minutes for her to arrive. When she finally showed up, manager Laila simply blamed the issue on Booking.com and made it clear that they had no intention of helping us, again threatening to cancel our reservation. The entire process took over an hour of our time, with staff openly discussing us in front of other customers, showing a complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service standards. Moreover, our original reservation was for a car with automatic transmission, but they first tried to give us a manual. Eventually, we received a car with a damaged bumper. This level of rudeness, disorganisation, and disregard for the customer is absolutely unacceptable, especially from a company with an international reputation like AVIS. We expected far better and will seriously reconsider renting from AVIS in the future.
Car was a bit dirty but only had 600km on it. We couldn't check for damages before signing for check-up. We ended up paying for the extended complete insurance (140€/10 days). We ordered a VW polo but got a Peugeot 208 (a bit underpowered for the mountains but it worked out great). Staff was friendly and spoke some English. If you pay for insurance recommended. If you dont take pictures of everything before leaving the parking lot, you probably will end up paying for any pre-existing damages. (If you look at other reviews no personal experience.)
It was very nice experience, staff were very welcoming and supportive. Before renting saw the google review but I have prior experience with Avis and it was great and it was same experience in Avis Ajaccio. Much happy with their serivce both pickup and dropoff🙂👍
No confirmation at all when dropping the vehicle, just an email the drop off has been made would be good. And one door has a sign for entrance but is closed, and another one has no sign but is open: would have appreciated to be talked in a better way at the entrance
Appalling. After nearly a month we've still not had our deposit back. Car was returned, signed off with agent with no damage. I've emailed twice since home and not even a reply. Now having to pursue this through our bank.. Even at the start of the hire I was given the wrong keys for our car!!! DON'T USE
Cheated out of 280 euros for an invisible scratch that we did not cause. I think there are corrupt people working at the agency. Not all. The checkout agent was actually very helpful. But the checkin guys were cheaters.
I need an invoice of the 562euro i paid for damage. They don't respond to e-mail, they dont't answer the phone. Why didn't they give the invoice immediately? I was assured that they gave me all the documents i needed. My insurance company tried to contact them in vain. Hoever, a week after they set their "specialised" departement on the case, i received my document on August 23. Obviously, without comment or apology.
Great cars. upgrade to next class is possible. Good price with corporate discount. Rental is quite smooth. The only issue was that we had to return the car somewhere else - not directly at the airport parking where we rented it, but outside of the airport parking, so it was a bad surprise making us to get nervous while rushing through the airport queues.
