A magical, restful stay in a space that is clearly a labor of love. Staying at Chateau de Picomtal exceeded our expectations, and we can’t wait to come back. The castle is expertly renovated to both transport you back in time and make you feel right at home. The views are stunning, you’re surrounded by beauty at every turn, and the hosts are the sweetest. You’ll never run out of things to do, whether you decide to simply stay inside and enjoy the interiors or explore the small towns around the chateau. If you gear up, you can also go on unforgettable hikes. The breakfast is delicious and generous, with plenty of homemade and local delicacies. The hosts, Asia and Ryan, also kindly accommodated my partner’s vegan diet and he never went hungry while there—something we’ve been struggling on other vacations. It’s not a posh castle, but an authentic, warm, historical home that gives its guests the unique chance to enjoy the essence of romance. The love and hard work that went into providing this experience to the public can be felt in every little detail. Thank you for the chance to enjoy your peace of heaven ❤️
Absolutely fabulous, gorgeous place! Everything about the chateau is amazing, beautiful...from the grounds, the rooms, the views, the structure. Ryan and his wife are amazing hosts. Ryan is a wealth of information. Suggested a great nearby restaurant for dinner. Breakfast was delicious.
😊: It was a privilege to stay in this beautiful historic building which has been lovingly and painstakingly restored to its former glory. Ask to see the video of that four year project - it's amazing!.
😊: Amazing property in a superb location. The pictures of the Chateau do not do it justice. It is much more beautiful in person and the location at the base of the Haute Alps looking towards the lake is simply stunning. The owners are gracious and extremely hospitable. They have put a lot of love and effort into restoring the Chateau. Certainly a place that we will be revisiting..
😊: Absolutely amazing chateu, beautifully restored. The staff is a very kind family. It really is unbelievable how serene and majestic the building and the grounds are. Great view of the lake from a huge terrace. The area is also very charming.. 😢: Breakfast is a bit overpriced for what it is, with a bit of few options - but those options are tasty and good, and the atmosphere of the room is very unique..
10 star stay. We absolutely loved everything about the experience. The location and castle are superb. Our room was a dream - like out of a fairy tale. Breakfast was delicious. And the hosts: Jack, Asia and Ryan, were warm and very accommodating. We’ll definitively be back soon!
Incredible family run castle overlooking the lake (Savines-le-lac) & mountains. The castle has so much history and magic to explore. We stayed in the most beautiful suite overlooking a formal garden. Our daughter’s bedroom was in the tower connected by a little passageway. We were enchanted by the place, and felt warmly welcomed & looked after by the people here. Thank you Ryan for hosting us so graciously!
The place is magnificent. Gardens and flowers are amazing. The father who owns the place and did all the refurbishment is really nice, loves to talk to every customers. You will live in a castle almost like a chatelain: cold night in spring, no TV, no air conditioner. The breakfast is served a little bit too late (8h30).
