Great hike, went all the way to the refuge, about 11 miles out and back total. Got absolutely roasted in the sun, should have brought sunscreen and more protective clothing. The views were fantastic and we enjoyed seeing a lot of the snow on the upper part of the hike, for reference we went on May 22. Had to hike through the snow for a bit but it wasn’t that bad. €8 to park which is annoying but it do be that way sometime.

Nice waterfall and nature place. Dogs not allowed. Not friendly for strollers and toddlers.

Pont d'Espagne is one of the most beautiful places in the Pyrenees. The waterfalls, crystal-clear mountain streams, and stunning views create an unforgettable setting. The walking trails are well maintained and offer easy access to breathtaking scenery, including forests, peaks, and alpine landscapes. It's a perfect spot for a relaxing walk or as a starting point for hikes deeper into the mountains. We took the cable car (téléphérique) to Lac de Gaube, and the lake was absolutely worth the trip, surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. A useful tip: if you purchase a téléphérique ticket to Lac de Gaube, the parking fee is included, so you can park for free. This makes the visit even better value. A must-visit destination if you're in the region and want to experience the beauty of the Pyrenees.

A great place to go for a day trip in the mountains or equally looks amazing for skiing.

It's possible to go there with a dog, but afterwards for it becomes difficult to visit Lac de Gaube. The dog must use the cable car, which is rather wild depending on the dog size. As alternative you can walk around nearby (at least a bit).

Good starting point for some epic hiking! (Or shorter walks if you have to 😉) Lots of parking, but would advise getting there nice and early. Alternatively, there's a regular shuttle bus service from Cauterets - check with the local tourist office for timings.

I've been here 25 years ago and it's great to be back once in this place. You can just hang around, but it's a good starting point for beautiful hikes in the mountains (what I did) also lovely walks like the "waterfall walk" (centier des cascades). Been here in June and it was not too busy, guess it can be really crowded in summer, luckily there's a huge parking nearby.
