Nice little chateau to visit. Not too expensive, we paid €6.50 each for an unguided visit as we were part of a group of 15+ people. There are explanations in French but they provide cards with English translation which is a bonus. The best part was the tapestry which chronicles the chauteau’s and also Normandie’s history. You can use the card which explains each section. The chateau has one toilet cubicle and two (very cosy!) urinals near the entrance. There is also a little shop at the entrance. No cafe!
It's a beautiful little castle. Its history is very interesting and you can get a brochure describing it in a lot of different languages (not just French, which is very helpful). It's the only castle we've visited in Normandy where you can go inside and see a lot of the rooms that have been restored and you can even walk on the castle walls. Entrance fee is 7€ per person, but they use it for the restauration.
Well worth a visit. Guided tours in French but was given an English guide book to take along on our self guided tour which was quite nice. You can easily spend an hour and half here in the morning and have enough time to linger and read all the info plaques. A similar tapestry to the Bayeux Tapestry is housed here and is just as lovely.
A wonderful moated 12th century castle, restored this century from a ruin. €7 closed Tuesday. Most of the castle is accessible, living rooms, kitchen, cider press etc. The towers and roof have great views. The old lodgings give a good feeling of how it was to live here. Amazing tapestry (in the style of Bayeaux) shows the history of the castle and its fortunes and fall. Definitely worth a visit.
A pleasant little castle worth a quick visit if passing by. The long history is interesting, with its coaching fortunes through the centuries. Instant rampart walk as well.
Pretty chateau well worth a visit, we spent about 1.5hrs there on a rainy morning exploring the castle, we did the battlements walk twice as the kids loved the tricky spiral staircases and being up on top of the castle. The staff were welcoming and gave us an information sheet in English explaining the history of the castle. The facilities are quite basic, no cafe but a little gift shop, not great if you have any mobility problems.
Far better than I expected. You get a self guided tour and explore at your own speed. There is a huge tapestry on display that rivals Bayeux in scale (but not age of course). Well worth visiting.
This little castle is a must see when in the area. Only can take an hour to walk round but it is a great place to go. Turn it into more of a trip with a picnic but dont forget it closes for lunch! Nice to see additional works to repair the old girl and I love the tapestry. Was on our to do list when in Normandy and didnt disapoint....
