Very good food and service. Everything we tried was delicious. They have a special oyster on the menu that is so fresh and creamy & buttery, you’d swear you were eating the ocean. The calamari was perfectly cooked and the duck confit was delicious. Great vibe to the place and it was jam-packed by locals. Come to experience beautiful Bordelaise dining. We loved it so much we ate here twice for lunch on this trip.
The best French fries or pommes frites I had in my life. Amazing! The they served too much food. It was enough to share for two. This made it almost difficult to finish and for no good reason. However the food was great and the friendly staff was super quick to serve me!
Delicious meal with generous portions — we loved the duck breast, ham croquettes, and squid. Great wine recommendation and a delicious crème brûlée. Service was friendly but a bit slow as the night got busy. Overall, a very good experience and I’d happily return.
I found this place by accident and I'm delighted that I did. The staff are so friendly and informative, the service excellent and the prices are such value. Food quality is excellent. Well worth a visit.
A cosy bistro, with inviting décor and a relaxed atmosphere, perfectly placed for lunch or dinner in the heart of the city, offering solid French cooking, generous portions and a good selection of drinks, especially wine. We had a nice dinner and enjoyed our meal. Both starters and mains were tasty, portions were satisfying, and the dessert was a lovely way to end the evening. The service was friendly, though not always attentive - understandably, the restaurant was very busy on a Sunday night, and the team seemed a little stretched. What stood out, however, was that a group dining with what appeared to be the owner, manager, or a VIP guest received noticeably more attention, including a staff member dedicated to them at the bar. This felt a little unbalanced compared to the rest of the room. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend Le Carreau as a good option in Bordeaux for well-prepared, flavourful French bistro fare in a warm and lively setting.
We had an amazing date night, we emailed in the morning for a reservation and it was good thing we did ! It got busy. The staff were amazing and were seating walk ins too. We had Martin looking after us. He was brilliant, we tried ordering in French, he was lovely and patient 😂 he had great English which helped. Steak for two was amazing and the Crème Brûlée was fantastic, he was also very knowledgeable and assisted us in selecting a wine (great suggestion Martin ! It was lovely ) merci beaucoup
I randomly came across this restaurant as I was walking around and decided to check it out. On a Tuesday evening, all of the tables were already reserved which is a great sign! I took a seat at the bar and enjoyed watching the cooks in action. They took great care while making all of the dishes and my server was very attentive and kind. The Sea bream was delicious and plenty filling! Thank you all so much for a wonderful experience.
Le Carreau is a beautiful restaurant in the heart of Bordeaux. Everything was absolutely perfect. A sincere, beautiful place to dine in the city. A great starts for our vacation. The food was delicious! I recommend to try the steaks which are served with smashed potatoes, salad and french fries.
