Avis
Charles is the perfect host and his hotel is quite extraordinary, it is also his home where he welcomes you with genuine friendliness. If you want something very different from the boring standard hotel, Castel Saint-Leonard is an amazing experience, beautiful rooms, a real sense of history, and perfectly located in the centre of Falaise within walking distance to shops and restaurants as well as conveniently located for sightseeing around the region. Highly recommended, we will return, Merci Charles!
What a wonderful experience! Charles is a fantastic host. The castle is one of a kind and a very special historical visit.
We stayed in the Rotunda which is a spectacular room. The included breakfast was the best we had during our trip to France. Charles is a very gracious host. He is restoring the Castel St. Leonard very tastefully so that it keeps its character. There are many very nice antiques and fine paintings. In a nice location. Walking distance to good restaurants and William the Conqueror castle.
Wonderful stay - the room was just fabulous, really clean and with a beautiful bathroom. Charles is a lovely man who took the time to give us a little tour of the house and its history. The location was perfect - in a quiet street just a 5-minute walk from the centre of Falaise. Breakfast was simple but lovely, and Charles couldn’t do enough for us. There is a little kitchen available to all guests with a fridge and coffee machine, which is a great touch. Falaise itself is really interesting with lots of ships and restaurants to choose from - a perfect stopover after the ferry. Overall, highly recommended, we will be back!!
The Castel Saint-Leonard is a wonderful hotel, full of character and charm. Charles was a great host and made sure that nothing was left wanting during our stay in his glorious house. The room was large, the bed was large, the bathroom was large, and it felt very comfortable during our 3 night stay. Breakfasts were very good, with fruit, a (large) croissant, cheese, as well as other delights from what we assume is a local boulangerie. The location is very close to the centre of Falaise, with the castle, the Automaton Museum and many fine restaurants within easy walking distance. Highly recommended.
A very unique experience like travelling decades - if not centuries - back in time. This little palace appears genuine with love and care for the culture, architecture, and atmosphere of the past. If you prefer Ikea-style plate furniture and highly polished acrylic surfaces, this might not be for you. But if you appreciate authentic style and decor, antiquities and a touch of Louis XVI nobility, you should consider a stay. The host is welcoming and amiable, and the breakfast is fully satisfying.
Extraordinary guest house in listed mansion full of unusual memorabilia. Very warm welcome from owner and host who served us a wonderful continental breakfast. Very good location for visiting Falaise and bonus to be able to park car in the courtyard.
We had a warm welcome from Charles who showed us around the beautiful building and told us about the history, he was also very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and local attractions. |We stayed for two night in the Suite de La Rotonde which was amazing. Our suite was so comfortable, tastefully decorated and with a modern bathroom. There is secure off street parking if you have a car. Breakfast each morning was fabulous, served by Charles in the dining room which set us up for the day. |Falaise has a lot of history to discover including William the Conquerers Castle but it is also close to Bayeux and the Normandy Coast which I would recommend visiting. I would definitely recommend staying here, we really enjoyed our stay.
