It was our third and last castle what we visited in same day. Castle is big and have interesting things to see inside. U can watch a short video liek documentary into castle. Have a great panorama what u can see the city. And also have a wonderful garden next to castle. Before left the castle , u can visit also gift shop and buy some good gifts.
Back again after decades. Well worth seeing for buildings, history, exhibits, tapestries and very pretty aromatic herb garden. (Very good view also .)
One of huge castle that I ever visited As well so beautiful Thank you marché medieval Thank you Châteaudun You are totally such an impressive first impression
Excellent historic property. Well kept and cared for. Built on rock with excellent views. Inside, the tapestries were amazingly well preserved. We had a guided tour of the Keep too. Our fantastic guide, Julien, had a good grasp of English and told the story of the castles history, beautifully. Would definitely recommend.
A great place to visit. Wander around the empty chateau and Chapel. The grounds and garden are well kept and the high rooms give you some great views over the town. There is a aire de camping car at the bottom of the hill, it has a picnic area by the river and toilet.
Interesting place to visit. The view over the town from the terrace is spectacular. Look out for the fossils in the marble on the staircase. There are toilets before the shop and a small room next to the garden with a coffee and snack machine. From the terrace, you are looking at the upper Loir Valley. There is a small, free car park next to the chateau. Or park in the town for free for two hours with a blue parking permit. (Buy from the book shop).
Beautiful medieval town with an impressive castle on a rock cliff. The visit to the chateau was free (on the Sunday we visited, I think it is normally about €6.5), and included all premises, the chapel and the dungeon tower. There are guided tours (free as well, at least that day) every hour, but only in French. A good 1-day visit and not too far from Paris.
If you visit Châteaudun be sure you come in time, unfortunately we didn't. So the advice they gave was too come back, either midday our the next day, so we could enjoy everything. So therefore the 4 stars for their honesty. Unfortunately we weren't able to go back. But the outside and surroundings were great. The medieval centre they could put the same beautiful flowers as in centre Ville, that would be a real asset 😉
