We booked a cellar tour and tasting at Champagne Drappier and had a wonderful experience. We decided to start with the tasting first. Since we are not regular champagne drinkers, it was a great introduction to the different styles and flavours, and it helped us discover what we personally enjoy. Afterwards, we joined the tour and learned about the production process and how these wonderful champagnes are made. It was fascinating to see the cellars and understand the craftsmanship behind each bottle. Etam was a great guide and shared a lot of interesting information with enthusiasm. At the end of our visit, we happily took several bottles home with us. A very enjoyable and educational experience that we would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Champagne region.
If you can only go to one champagne house, visit Champagne Drappier. We've had a near private tour of the cellar (was only 5 of us) with Samuel. It was extremely informative and I've learned more than I'd learned studying. On top of more common Chardonnay-Pinot Noir-Meunier blends, they also do champagne with ancestral varieties and have also planted Voltis (a PIWI hybrid). Hoping to visit again once their spa opens.
We asked for a tour in English. They confirmed it, but it turned out that the group was combined. There were only two of us who spoke English and about 20 people who spoke French. Of course, the tour was for the majority and we had to listen for half an hour to something we didn't understand and then a few words to us. At the same time, they took the full payment from us. The champagne was amazing, the place and castle were very beautiful, but the experience was spoiled.
I went with my children as part of my birthday present, I chose Drappier after a tip on Tik Tok. Loved the atmosphere and tranquillity of the estate, we had beautiful weather helping a lot. Laury was a very good host, and very knowledgeable, the start in the 12th century old cellar was an eyeopener. The tasting was pleasantly unforced and casual. We bought some good bottles that will keep reminding us. Place to go, take the trouble to drive out, you will not be disappointed.
Firstly, excellent champagne! I rang in advance of a visit which given it was a Saturday was appreciated. Laury introduced us to some of her favourite champagnes, her knowledge was impressive, as was her command of English. There is a fee for the champagne tasting which is deducted against subsequent purchase. Lovely champagne house, great champagne...
Certainly the best Champagne of the Aube, a hidden gem, insider's choice. Produced with love by the Drappier family for many generations, every Cuvée is a treasure on itself. We cannot travel to France without making a (sometimes quite large) detour to Urville.
Nice people and really chill vibe! Great place if you want to bring kids.
We were in France for our 25th wedding anniversary, we’ve been coming for 12 years but never visited a vineyard. So a champagne tour was a must do on our holiday. However, we were only in the region for 2 days so only could pick one. We looked at the world famous ones but they were over an hour away. Anyway thanks to reviews like this we came across Champagne Drappier. We couldn’t ask for a better tour. We had the overseas export director, Milo, show us around the cellars. Despite him only being in place 10 days his knowledge and English were truly amazing. The tour lasted well over the advertised 45mins. Highlights included, the 12 century cellar, the special egg cask that only Drappier champagne uses, and the worlds biggest champagne bottle. Plus learning about their family and their ethical and environmental production. The tasting was amazing we had way more than the advertised 3 champagnes and every single one was top class. We had taken a Bollinger for our actual anniversary and this champagne was so much better. It was more natural. We had done a couple of tastings on our holiday and usually bought a token bottle out of politeness, but we walked out of this tour with 12 bottles of 4 different champagnes that we tasted, costing over £400. However, this was not the highlight, the highlight was we got to meet 2 generations of the Drappier family including the current owner Michel, who couldn’t of been nicer. It was also nice to know Michel’s father still takes an active role in the business at 97 years old. If you can only do one tour please do this one you will not be disappointed
