The quality of the workmanship and installation of the barn door was exceptional, far beyond what we expected, although after our initial meeting, we were convinced that Charente Menuiseries Miroiterie would be the most competent for this project. This was based on the way they conducted the initial assessment and provided us the option to fit a truly authenticate replica of the original barn door. This advice set them aside from all other suppliers who I now know simply did not have the skills or ability to come anywhere near replicating the craftmanship of the original door so they would propose alternatives doors using low quality modern material and at an inflated cost. The finished door left me speechless. I was frustrated that my French was not sufficient to properly express my gratitude for what the 3 guys who worked on the door in terrible weather conditions had achieved. I rehearsed a few sentences in French but completely failed to speak it fluently in sight of workmanship before my eyes. I did not think it was possible to achieve such a precise fitting door perfectly matching the original. This has been exactly the reaction of everyone who has seen it when visiting our home since. Having properly oiled the door on both sides with two coats of protection and I expect it to remain in good condition for generations to come, provided it is properly maintained. It is wonderful to see such unique skills persisting within our community.
