Excellent high quality site. The wet rooms in the sanitaires by the restaurant are really good. Lots of shade. Well maintained. Very happy to stay 2 nights. Worth noting its a long 3o min walk from the station and supermarkets.
Le Marache camping place is one of those places where you feel good and at home as soon as you step in. There were the greetings of the manager Thomas and his personal touch with all tourists, but there was also the friendly touch of all employees... all this makes you feel like being part of a big "family". Then, the place is just amazing for people who like nature. The environment with all these trees (special mention from my side for the palm and banana trees as well as for the bamboos, I loved them!) was wow... really beautiful! And in the middle of this great nature, you just have to enjoy the swimming-pool and jacuzzi! What a beautiful life! I spent a wonderful time at Le Marache camping place and wish you all the same!
We arrived on site towing a large caravan with our son and partner following behind in a car. The entrance was very small with no where to park so I was forced to park outside the reception blocking the entrance. A young lady from the reception was extremely rude and condescending in her attitude and was more interested in moving us than any sort of welcome to the site. We were given a poor photocopy of the site and dismissed to find our pitch when she dealt with our son. The pitch numbers were not clearly visible and we were forced to leave the site to turn around to find our pitch again. The same person said we need to slow down this time which we all felt was very patronising and unhelpful in the situation. We have been visiting France for over 30 years and I have never experienced such poor customer care and if we had not paid upfront we would have turned around and left this site. Our allocated pitch was small and right next to a large mobile home which blocked out some light. It was very dusty with soil and pine needles from the overhead trees. and was very difficult to keep clean. The nearby toilet block was adequate but no toilet paper or soap dispenser were available which was surprising given the price to stay on this site. The chemical toilet was very poorly sited between 2 pitches and the campervan water emptying area was in a similar position with no way of turning a large motor home around should the need arise. The whole site felt to cramped with very little open space and maximising the number of pitches. I could go on but in all our visits to France this site has to be the worse we have encountered and we will definitely not visit it again. It would appear from reading other reviews we are not the only persons complaining about a young lady working on reception whose attitude left a lasting negative impression on this site.
The good: Very friendly reception, nice pool, nice atmosphere, very green and quiet. The bad: The price (€60 for 2 adults, 1 night) this was the most expensive camping in 3 weeks of touring around France & Spain. The plots are rather small. It’s mosquito heaven, it’s practically unbearable outside after 5 PM. Also, the pool does not allow shorts, which makes people go in with underwear, I don’t know if that’s more hygenic..
We were disappointed by this site. Our plot size was fine with lovely sub tropical plants giving privacy from adjoing plots but enclosed by a canopy of high trees. The weather had been very wet on and off and overcast which made the plot very dark. Our main problem was with the sanitary facilities. No toilet paper, no hand wash nor hand driers. The block was also open to the elements so no heating which did not make showering pleasant. The restaurant was not owned by the site and it appeared was open to non residents . Some nights the noise was much too loud and went on much too late. The staff were very nice and helpful directing us to bike tracks which were excellent. The swimming pool was well maintained with nice loungers and an opportunity to enjoy some open space when rhe weather allowed. There were a couple of showers there that were heated and pleasant to use.
I am giving 3 stars because of the mosquitoes 🦟 and one unfriendly staff. If you are planning to visit this camping ground, I would strongly recommend bringing plenty of mosquito repellent. My wife and I stayed there for only one night in September and were absolutely overwhelmed with the amount of mosquitoes 🦟. It was so bad that we had to retreat into our van and were unable to enjoy the evening. We felt so sorry for our little daughter, who is just over one, and for our son as they both suffered from a lot of bites. It is quite surprising that no one has ever mentioned this mosquito problem in the reviews. Despite this, the place has a beautiful tropical feeling 🌴 and it is clear that the owners have taken a lot of pride in creating it. We also thoroughly enjoyed the pool and the playground. One Love.
I had a very nice shady place which was sufficiently large and with your own watertub. Toilets and showers were clean. Additionally the site has a very nice pool, jacuzzi and restaurant (altough I did not like the soccergame on Friday till 2315...). Several nice beaches and the hihest European dune are close by, as well as a very friendly service! So worth while to return again to this campsite that has a bit of park atmosphere due to the nice variety of threes offering sufficient shade at temperatures around 35 degrees of celcius 😍
Difficult one because I think this campsite would be lovely for some but didn’t quite work for us. We managed to choose a pitch that was too small for our vehicle really so it felt cramped. We had terrible rain one night - obviously one of those things - but it kicked up so much filth from the ground. We were also bitten head to foot by mosquitoes - again not their fault. It was a pretty, rural site which was nice. The leisure pool is also lovely. |However, all that said, which is just personal preference, the toilet arrangements weren’t sufficient. Because it wasn’t busy, only one toilet in the main block was as open, or you could use the ones right next to the restaurant. The door to these were open if you were sitting in the restaurant so you could see right in them. Just the way the French do it, but the urinals were also completely on show to anyone using those communal toilets. But my single biggest gripe was no soap in the toilets. Yes, you can take your own, but people weren’t so they go straight in and out of the loos and sit at their tables to eat or head back off around the campsite. Surely no soap is a not an option these days? I haven’t been anywhere else this French trip that hasn’t had it. I just don’t understand it. Please make that one permanent change.|Clearly not for us but may be for many others.
