The Notre Dame Cathedral in Strasbourg is truly impressive—I’m not sure if it doesn’t make an even greater impression than the one in Paris. The city itself is beautiful, clean, and well-kept, with a multitude of interesting places to visit. In the Petite France district, you can find some truly unique dining options. I highly recommend visiting this charming city.
We visited at 8 in the morning and it was breathtaking. The architecture is incredible and I was left completely aghast at how stunning the design is. No crowds..I went inside and it is gorgeous. Go early as by 9.30/ 10 am all the tour groups get there and there are lines for hours. You can sit directly opposite and have drinks and people watch. A must!!
Such a beautifully cathedral! Very much recommend to go up. The view is incredible. There are a lot of people, but it is still possible to go up in your tempo. On a specific time there is a show outside, very recommended to see it. Very magical! And also inside on the specific time you can see the show with the clocks. But we came 15 minutes earlier and it was already not possible to get inside so many people.
The Strasbourg Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame) is a breathtaking Gothic masterpiece located in the heart of Strasbourg, France. Famous for its pink Vosges sandstone and a massive 142-meter spire, it was the world's tallest building for over 200 years. Visitors consistently praise the intricate facade and interior artwork. offers a stunning view on the whole city
Amazing gothic cathedral. So impressive to see this cathedral and be privileged enough to go inside and climbing to the platform on top. *Cathedral* Inside is free to visit, but there are often queues outside. We found visiting early on a morning we didn't have to queue. Later in the afternoon it was much busier and they close about 11.15 for ticket holders only, paying to see the clock. *Astronomical Clock* Such an amazing clock, the engineering that has gone into this clock is just unbelievable. While visiting the cathedral we viewed rhe clock and on the hour/half hours etc there are plenty of bells and mechanisms to view. You can pay for the main show at midday but we didn't manage to do that. We were more than happy to enjoy the chimes on the hour. *The Platform* Separate tickets are needed to climb to the top. It's a steep ascent and lots of steps but again such a pleasure and so interesting. The building is so unique in design and the stairs to the top are unlike any I've seen before. There are many gaps in the masonry providing views across the city and the rooftop (even on a snowy day) still had fantastic views. A lot to see and do but sp worth it!
A truly iconic landmark in Strasbourg. Strasbourg Notre-Dame is a huge cathedral right in the city center, especially magical when surrounded by Christmas markets. For centuries, it was the tallest building in the world, which already says a lot about its importance. Inside, the astronomical clock is absolutely stunning, with intricate moving figures that showcase the incredible engineering skills of that era—along with many other remarkable details throughout the cathedral. There are two separate entrances: one to visit the interior (free of charge), and another to climb the spire (paid entry, with security screening). From the spire, you get breathtaking views over the city, the lively markets below, and even the chance to hear the bells ring. You can also read about the cathedral’s construction along the way. Truly impressive and a must-visit in Strasbourg.
Beautiful, awe-inspiring cathedral! It is free to enter, and upon going in you can read about the history and walk around. It is in amazing condition. Mass is held there everyday at 9am. The famous clock inside was really neat, very intricate to look at! There was a small area in the back of the church where you could purchase souvenirs. Also, you can pay €10 to climb the stairs to the lookout point when we did, but that seemed expensive. The views were amazing though.
It's a massive Cathedral with a giant astronomical clock inside, one of Europe’s most extraordinary Gothic cathedrals. Never seen such an impressive architecture like this before. Looks like it was built around 12th century and completed in 16th century. It's free entry and the crowd on a Saturday seems to be coming more after 12pm. I didn't get to go up but this was definitely worth a visit in France.
