By far the best hotel I’ve stayed at in France. Everything was spotless and very well maintained, and the room was comfortable, modern, and had everything I needed for my stay. The location is excellent, with easy access to public transport and many attractions nearby, making it very convenient to explore the city. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help with any questions. The breakfast was amazing, with a great variety of fresh options every morning. It was one of the highlights of my stay and a perfect way to start the day. I also appreciated the overall atmosphere of the hotel, it felt safe, organized, and well run. The common areas were clean and inviting, and the facilities were excellent. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended to anyone visiting the area! 😊

This hotel is in a great location .It is very clean and the bathroom has good quality fitments and everything works. The hotel is quiet. The staff are very helpful and friendly .There are lovely local restaurants nearby and a playground for children.|There is a facility to leave left luggage for 6 euros.|There is a shared kitchen where they have a couple of tables outside. It is very clean and well supplied with the basics for cooking a meal and some people ordered take aways.There are large fridges and sticky labels where you can leave your marked food. There were people of all ages mixing and chatting. There is also a separate breakfast room.It caters for all ages. We would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay there again.It is very close to all the tourist sites .The public transport is easy to use with contactless and very frequent but reduced service on Sunday evenings.It is very good value.

We came as a group late at night. They have accomodated the students on different floor from the teachers'. Nothing changed or could change. The breakfast was great and varied. The rooms were ok and basic, but not always cleaned on a daily basis. The surrounding area was not that safe, but in the hotel we were. The personnel was kind but not the receptionist(man) when we arrived.

Price good performance perfect. Great location, very clean rooms and better bathroom than many 5 start hotels. Beds and pillows are not that much comfortable but not too bad. They have open kitchen which you can prepare any kind of food. Sitting areas and game area very nice for groups.

I have stayed at the MEININGER Hotel Lyon Centre Berthelot twice, but I don’t think there will be a third time. My most recent stay was 4 nights in December 2025.The location is good and fairly central, and the staff is friendly, although they sometimes seem overwhelmed by the number of guests, which gives the impression that the hotel is a bit understaffed. The rooms are an okay size, but very basic, with an industrial and cold decoration. Nothing particularly comfortable or welcoming. Regarding the price: while it may seem affordable at first, the quality does not really justify it. You receive less than minimum basic hotel services, and almost everything comes with an extra charge. For example, you are charged 16 euros to leave your luggage at the front desk if you arrive before check-in time, or even for just a couple of hours after check-out to see the city. These are basic services in most hotels. It honestly makes you wonder what they might charge for next, using the toilet in the room? Another important point is the neighborhood. It does not feel very safe, with people openly selling controlled substances on nearby corners. Both times I’ve stayed here, I’ve seen cars parked outside with broken windows after being robbed. If you bring a car, it’s safer to pay for the hotel parking (also at an extra cost) rather than risk your belongings. In summary, once you add up all the extra costs required to make this stay function like a normal hotel, it would be better to pay for a higher-quality hotel instead, it may actually end up being cheaper.

My checkout experience at the hotel was very disappointing. I misplaced my ID card and was trying to locate it before leaving. When I went to reception to explain the situation, I also apologised for being late. Despite this, I felt my concerns were not properly taken into account. I was spoken to by Carine and Oceane during this interaction. I was repeatedly reminded of the checkout time and told I could be removed from the hotel. I was also told that I would not be able to extend my stay or return, despite trying to explain my situation calmly and apologise for the delay. During the conversation, Carine spoke to me in a condescending manner, particularly in relation to the fact that I was staying in a shared room. She stated that if I was not happy with the conditions, I should upgrade to a private room, which I felt was said in a dismissive and patronising tone. During this interaction, I also observed Oceane sniggering and exchanging looks with another staff member while I was speaking, which made me feel uncomfortable and disrespected as a guest. Overall, this interaction left a very negative impression and affected my stay. That said, my stay was not entirely negative. I would like to thank Gaspar and Sami for being professional, polite, and helpful during my visit.

We were just passing by Lyon in our journey. We stop at Meininger recommended by a friend. The hotel is in the middle of the city and really close to the highway. We had a breakfast in one of the many places close to the hotel, we went to a park for the kids also close to the hotel and then leave really fast. The service was excellent.

The hotel has all that it needs, clean bedsheets, clean towels, bathroom is spacious enough, you can open the window for fresh air and there is a mosquito net, the beds are good, sockets and lights near the bed. Downstairs a bar, snack disposer, a childrens’ corner, and my favourite the water boiler to make tea whenever you want. The location is good, close to everything, staff is helpful.
