went to Villa Cavrois. It is a very modern and impressive place. The architecture is unique and the spaces are well organized. The weather was nice, which made the visit more enjoyable. I visited different rooms and learned about its history. The garden is large and well maintained. It was a very interesting and enriching experience.
A stunning place to visit. We explored the building during Lancaster University’s 2026 field trip to Lille, and our students thoroughly enjoyed engaging with both the indoor and outdoor spaces.
It is worth the visit, especially if you are interested in architecture. The Villa Cavrois was built in the 1930's and restored about 15 years ago. It contains now the decorations and the furniture 100% like the original. The ticket costs 11 Euros, which I think is exaggerated.
We really enjoyed our visit – the villa is truly impressive and there is a lot to see. The only thing we felt was missing is that a few of the rooms could still be furnished, as they currently do not have any furniture.
This is a fantastic building to visit if you are interested in architecture. There were very few other visitors on the day we visited, so it was enjoyable to wander around the house and gardens. The walk to the property from the nearest tram station is lovely and took us about 15 minutes to walk. There isn't anywhere to grab a coffee or a snack nearby so don't arrive peckish!
Beautifully restored Art Deco Palace. Nicely done. Unfortunately the furniture is not original but it gives you a great feel of how it must have been.
Incredible example of 1930s modernist architecture by Mallet-Stevens. The geometric lines, innovative use of materials, and beautifully restored interiors make this a must-visit. A hidden gem that showcases the best of Art Deco design - well worth the trip from Lille center!
A stunning art deco movement building, set in beautiful grounds. This building was left to rack and ruin in the 90's, suffering vandalism and water damage. The government bought it and spent 22m euro's restoring it, and replacing the original lost furniture and fittings with identical copies. A remarkable achievement.
