Avis
A large room packed with plaster cast sculptures of the famous Pierre-Jean David D'Angers. Very low admission fee and next to it is an old courtyard of the Toussaint Abbey which itself is worth a look.
Apart from conveniently located close to the train station, many other spots like museum and castle are nearby as well. One can plan the visit of the gallery even if they have couple of free hours in between their trip! Beautiful and detailed sculptures displayed throughout the gallery. Also, few ancient artifacts are kept on display. There's also a viewing point on the mezannine floor where one can sit with pencil and paper and can draw their observance if they like. I'm not sure about one thing though- wheelchair accessibility (though the mezzanine floor has no wheelchair accessibility!). Big and spacious design of the gallery makes it quite comfortable to spend couple of hours inside (There's no restroom though! 😅). All in all, a great experience and would definitely suggest this place to anyone interested in arts and history.
Small but well appointed gallery with some interesting work on display
Stunning gallery in repurposed monastery with glass roof and packed with sculpture. Short walk from the Angels Tourism office.
Very beautiful museum Free for young people Pleasant stuff
Very nice museum to stop by quickly. It looks incredible and the sculptures are very original.
Dropped in while walking around Angers. Interesting pieces to review. There is an area where you can sketch the exhibits.
A must go in Angers. Free for people under 26. The David d'Angers gallery is a museum located in Angers in Maine-et-Loire, on the site of the former Toussaint abbey. It is dedicated to the works of the sculptor David d'Angers, from whom it takes its name. The collection is essentially made up of original plasters which are the preparatory stages for bronze or marble sculpture. The establishment is labeled “Musée de France”.
