I think the ownership at the hotel must have changed within the past year because I’ve always heard good things about Capelongue but have experienced really poor service during our brief 2-day stay here.||We booked the Luberon Suite for approximately 3500 EUR a night. As a comparison, we’d stayed at Coquillade Provence and the Chateau St Martin which were brilliant in terms of service standards. ||There were some really basic things lacking (nevermind the little touches here and there that make a hotel a 5 star hotel).||- Upon check in, no reconfirmation of itinerary (we booked a car ride into L’isle sur La Sorgue the next day + reservation at a restaurant + car ride into Marseilles airport the next morning early morning). Had to text them while we were out to find out where we were going for lunch.|- While we were out on the second day for literally more than half the day (9am-3pm), we came back to a still-dirty room. We had to call for room service and were told that they have till 4pm to clean the rooms (but my argument was that as a 5 star hotel, they should have known our itinerary and cleaned the suite while we were out!)|- I ordered a chocolate cake for the kids to be in the room upon arrival. It wasn’t there and was told much later in the day (upon my inquiring) that it had been too last minute for them to prepare the cake |- Dinner at La Bergerie took ages to come! Also requests were ignored (eg no ham in the girls pasta, and dressing on the side of my Caesar Salad)|- Turndown service in the evening was minimal. They literally shut the curtains and turned on the mood lighting. No trash was emptied, dirty cups/glasses/cutlery were left dirty, water jug left empty, the one blackout curtain in our bedroom clearly didn’t close properly because one of the hooks had come undone (so my husband had to hoist up one of our girls on to his shoulders to put it back!). One of the towels on the floor was picked up and not replaced. |- Tried the gym out which was very bas
Having just spent two days at Capelongue - which is magnificent, beautiful and exquisitely placed - we wish simply to report on our views of the service. We interacted with at least 15 different staff members during our stay and they were uniformly excellent, friendly, skilled, respectful and charming. From reception and parking, to La Bergerie, the spa and the pool, they were all clearly well-trained and thoughtful. Not to mention bilingual. The outstanding staff was a key element in our thorough enjoyment of our stay. And breakfast was divine. A vast range of delicacies. Thanks for a great time!!
This hotel offers a relaxed, luxurious escape with the enchanting feel of a small French village. The atmosphere is effortlessly elegant, with refined pools that are as beautiful as they are serene. Lush landscaping surrounds the property. The Michelin-star restaurant, La Bastide, was truly exceptional, delivering an unforgettable, flawless dining experience. Mornings were made even better with a lovely breakfast with views and the buffet dessert bar was always a delightful indulgence at lunch. The truffle pizza is a must. Every moment here felt charming, sophisticated, and wonderfully memorable.
Absolutely wonderful stay in the Luberon region. The grounds of Capelongue are out of a storybook - you can spend all day just admiring the landscaping. The service is excellent and everyone we encountered was so welcoming. I appreciated being able to WhatsApp with the reception for any needs. Food was delicious as well! Location is also perfectly situated to explore other villages in Luberon. 100% recommend - a true retreat!
Absolutely spectacular stay. We stayed for 5 nights and loved every minute. We played padel. Pétanque. Walked. Ate. Spa’ed a lot. The cold plunge is perfection. We left our visit in complete awe of the hotel. The staff and the whole area. Heaven. Can’t wait to return. Huge fan of the restaurant. Such a great vibe and delicious food. Also the staff at breakfast and dinner were exquisite. Thank you everyone!!
This is the most wonderful hotel! Beautiful setting, really relaxed vibes and fully attentive staff. We went for a big birthday celebration and Lea was on hand to arrange everything we needed. From Padel courts to restaurant bookings and even arranged a cake and champagne on the terrace. The experience could not be better, a truly wonderful hotel in every way!
The hotel property is lovely and the room was very comfortable during our stay, two pools are of benefit with the amount of rooms at the property. The staff are all friendly but unfortunately there were a few snags we thought shouldn't happen at this price range. ||The service at the informal restaurant Bergerie Restaurant both at Breakfast and Dinner was very slow. At breakfast we had to get someones attention to take our hot drinks order and hot food order because no one came to ask us what we wanted. One morning we ordered an omlett which never made it to our table another time we did not get our hot drinks. Also the toaster did not work on our first morning and was not replaced until 4 days later. It cant be that difficult to get a new toaster. Also no fresh cut fruit at breakfast yet we saw some people with fresh strawberries at their table.||The dinner service was incredibly slow where our main meal arrived 20 minutes after our first course was cleared and more than once did we have to wait a very long time to get the bill. We had lunch once and again had to wait a very long time for someone to bring us a menu, then a long time for someone to take our order. ||Room cleaning was usually done very late in the day, We once came back from an outing at 3:30 pm and the room was still not made up. Also our tray with the left overs from room service dinner the night before was not cleared the next day, even when room service cleaned our room, they left it behind. ||We are not sure if it's a seasonal thing but the fact that the only bar of the hotel is only open 5 days a week was disappointing. Mainly because you had no way of sitting at the bar in the informal Bergerie restaurant and when it rains you cant use it's outside space to have an Aperitif. With the village below not having much options for a drink during this time of year we depended on the hotel for this service. So maybe something to consider in the future to have a bar that's open all the time.||We thin
Capelongue is a beautifully landscaped hotel in a fantastic location a 15-minute walk outside Bonnieux, a less touristy town in Provence. Perfect.||But...it falls down mightily in the price/service ratio. And this is because management appears to use Capelongue as a training ground for a large number of young, experienced employees. It is not the employees' fault. They are also unfortunately overworked in some respects.||The pools: during our stay we experienced two incidents exemplifying this approach.||One: at the heated pool one late afternoon, only one young man was assigned to provide/clear towels to around 40 chaise longues, man the water/ice cream cart, bring food/beverage to and from the nearby restaurant, and address any other guest requests. ||Because of this, my husband and I went to get our own towels, and I went down to the restaurant to get a glass for water (as all the glasses were gone). My quest for a water glass went like this: I asked a waiter setting tables for the restaurant dinner service for a glass. He pointed me toward the pool guy, who was busy carrying food out to the pool. I asked another fellow inside the restaurant for a glass. He said he would look for me, and then proceeded to walk in the opposite direction of where I could clearly see some spare glasses. When I protested, I finally got a glass. BTW, the couple on chaises next to us waited ten minutes for just towels.||The other incident: poo in the unheated pool. I saw icky brown stuff on the floor of the kiddy pool. I found a wet, dirty browned diaper in a bin near the toilet. I went to the reception and reported said poo. People had been swimming in the pool before I discovered the poo.||For the next two hours the only thing that happned was that a young fellow came to the area and emptied the bin of the dirty, soggy diaper. I pointed the pool poo out to him, and he nodded his head and walked away. I also reported the pool during the second hour I was at the pool, noting th
