We read the reviews for this campsite and wanted to stay here at the end of our trip for 3 nights as it sounded like a lovely site and is close to the ferry port. We had a ferry booked from Caen 8.30am on our departure day so sent an on line booking inquiry to Camping de la Mer as per their website, advising that we would need to leave the site at 7am on the Sunday. We did not receive a response from the online booking form therefore, followed it up with an email. (in french). Unfortunately, we still did not receive a response so we turned up on the day anyway only to be told that, whilst they had spaces, we could not stay there due to us needing to leave at 7am on our departure day. The lady on reception then recommended Camping la Pointe Du Jour up the road whose gates open at 7am therefore we booked this campsite no problem and it was great! So in short, not able to fully review the campsite but thought this would be useful information for any early morning ferry travelers.

A bit basic but no complaints about anything. Will visit again later!

great overnighter and probably ok for longer if you don't mind no frills site. Basic facilities but easy access to beach. Bread via van in the morning which is normal for these type of sites and its good & fresh. Pitches are not separated so we ended up closer than we normally like and as everyone was a smoker we were glad to be gone first thing. aside from that a good place to spend first night before heading south.

Nothing special about this campsite except its close location to the beach. Just an ordinary parking for campers and caravans. Reception employee has a bad personality, not so friendly. Prices are very expensive for an average campsite.

Very happy with our visit! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Could not be happier with our choice for a one night camping stop. We parked right next to the beach and had a wonderful view of the sunset. For a longer stay I would recommend to park your car somewhere else because the parking spaces next to the beach are from small rocks and everywhere else is grass. The staff is very friendly, the showers and toilets are clean and there are even a lot of sinks for dish and fish cleaning. There is also a WWII bunker you can see right on the property!! If you need something to buy, there is a small town right next. In the morning also came a man with van full of freshly baked baguettes and croissants.

A very nice and quiet camping site, with a private access to the beach. The amazing sunset is really worth staying up for! The owners are very kind and helpful, the facilities are proper and clean (free shower, sinks, toilets and dishwashing station, the laundromats require a fee). There is a small children's playground. The camping ground is surrounded by the dunes and therefore, there isn't much wind, which makes it very warm on a sunny day!

Very clean, well kept campsite at a beautiful beach front location. Facilities are plentiful and kept clean regularly. The pitch they provided us was literally yards away from the gateway to the beach! Amazing! The owners speak no English, but why should they? This is France! 😂 We muddled through with our limited French vocabulary and they were very welcoming. Merville Franceville is a short 20 min walk by road or along the beach and local facilities are good. Cabourg is an hours beach walk or 11min drive by road. There are a couple of hidden WW2 bunkers on this camp site which are interesting to hunt out. Pitches are spacious and well marked out. Would recommend this site. 👍

Super nice welcome, even though it was late in the afternoon. We got the last available spot, about 25€ with electricity for 1 night and direct beach access. Sanitary clean and new (container). Showers close at 9pm, toilets stay open all night. There are some pitches with sea view but of course soon full. Pitches on grass, no hedges but enough space for everyone. Definitely a recommendation!
