A delightful B&B surrounded by idyllic countryside and nature. The resident geese, hens, cockerel and Lola (the 3 legged cat) were great company. We had two rooms in the B&B - beautifully presented with a romantic feel. Christine made us very welcome and she cooked to order our breakfasts (a choice of English or continental). ||Downstairs in the B&B there is an honesty bar with a range of drinks and a communal lounge shared by the two B&B rooms with British and French TV channels. ||This is a special place, set in a valley with beautiful stone buildings, so it was lovely and cool in the hot August sunshine.
Absolutely charming watermill with a really great host/owner. Always made to feel extremely welcome and at home. I particularly love Chicken Island! No better place to enjoy a glass of rosé in the sun. Highly recommended.
This is a beautifully converted ancient water-mill with much of the original machinery still in situ. The rooms are large with nice views over the river and wooded valley. It is a quiet rural location yet only 4 km from the town of Craon, supermarkets etc.|I have mobility problems and was worried about the steep stairs. This turned out to be no problem at all; there are good handrails and the stairs have open treads so if you come down backwards, your feet fit on the steps easily.|I am sure we shall go back!
We stayed at this wonderful old water mill just on the outskirts of Craon in France, stopping off to break our journey back to Calais. The water mill is situated next to a river and is in a beautiful setting. Our host Mdm Brown (who is English) made us very welcome and gave us a tour of the property. We stayed for 2 night in the B&B Water Mill, although we did have the option of staying in the Gite (which also looked lovely and ideal for families). Our room was beautifully decorated and furnished - we had the best night sleep in the comfy bed with lovely soft pillows & cosy duvet. Even the residential cockerel didn't disturb us in the morning. There was a much appreciated bottle of wine in our room, with a kettle and coffee machine. Downstairs there was a rustic sitting room with a roaring log fire and satellite TV with both French and English channels. On both mornings we ordered the cooked english breakfast, which was served to us in the Mill. Well all I can say its worth staying a Moulin Du David to enjoy the breakfast. Recommend making a detour to stay in this rural idyll!
If there is one place I would recommend to stay in France it would be here. We loved it. A beautiful old flour/water mill owned by Christine, an English ex pat. and run with the help of her partner Richard. Given a wonderful welcome with a much needed drink. Lovely quiet, peaceful night followed by a hearty English breakfast. I could go on about this stay for ages but my recommendation is, just go and experience it yourself. We'll return one day I'm sure. Thank you for your warm welcome Christine and Richard!
We stayed in the detached two bedroomed gite with its amazing location overlooking the river with its own private garden and unique outdoor covered dining room. Buzzards soar overhead, kingfishers dart by, moorhens nest, this place is an absolute must for birdwatchers and nature lovers. Fantastic woodpeckers, cuckoo and hoopee can be heard and there is also a long established badger sett. Over the river on an island watch chickens ducks and geese living a wonderful free range life intermingling. We self catered some of the time but Christines home cooked food was an absolute delight when we had had a long day out exploring. This is a good location for walkers, cyclists and a perfect stop off for those en route to other areas. PUY DU FOU is about 1.5 hours away and well worth a visit possibly with an overnight stay. Richard and Christine are fantastic hosts and they aim to make your stay memorable for all the right reasons.|Definitely be returning thank you for a wonderful time.
Our last stop en route home, and what a stunning place Christine has created, a delightful Old Water Mill converted into a dining room and bar on the ground floor with 2 en suite rooms on the first floor, a detached 2 bedroom gite in its own gardens with river frontage and Christine’s own home are all set within woodland. Spent 2 great days here relaxing with Christine & Richard, mine host for our stay, Full English or Continental Breakfast served daily, evening meals on request and a Fish’n Chip Friday, sometimes with a special guest appearance. We fished off the jetty, laughed so much and had the best time. We will be back next time we are in France. Highly recommended.
We stayed here whilst attending a friend's wedding within the area. It is a lovely setting, within such a tranquil environment (well, until we arrived with our 2 young children anyway!). Christine is such a welcoming host and her breakfasts were delicious! She was kind and caring towards our little ones (1 and 3), and was happy for them to explore and play, yet making sure they were safe from the river that runs alongside. The children were delighted when Christine let them help her feed the chickens! Thanks Christine, for a lovely stay - next time, I'd leave the kiddies behind to really make the most of Moulin Du David!
