SAINT LEON ROLAND

Happened across this beautiful church while walking in the neighborhood. I was delighted to find this relatively new church (100 years) built entirely of brick. The artistry in the brickwork is really nice. Beautiful mosaics and 'modern' stained glass inside. Also a very good recent icon of St Leon. This is clearly an active Parish. A hidden gem.

Located in the peaceful Grenelle neighborhood on 1 Place du Cardinal Amette in Paris’s 15ᵉ arrondissement, Église Saint‑Léon is a stunning example of early 20th‑century religious architecture blending neo‑Romanesque exteriors with an Art‑Deco, neo‑Byzantine interior.

I love the way the architect used the bricks of the walls themselves to decorate the church room! We're all living stones in the church, called to show fourth her beauty. And the rich theology of the arch behind the alter! This church is dripping with sound theology, and that's coming from a second year theology student! :)

It really has a parish and familial communities as opposed to some beautiful churches in Paris that feel like landmarks only. Special mass for families with children garderie on Sundays.
