Les Contes is abundant in charm, a rustic dwelling full of history & mystery. The land and waters here are so nourishing. I felt right at home, and met so many interesting people. My room was quiet, bed and bedding comfortable - I must admit, I slept better than I have in years! The prayers beside my bed was such a heartfelt touch. I look forward to my next stay.

A beautiful location, & the property has much "potential", much of which has not yet been realised. As a fellow guest described "It's like camping but with walls". The cleanliness of my accommodation was dreadful - I literally cleaned down my room, the shower and toilet before using them - black mould and ancient dust was in abundance. Cracked and missing tiles, leaking toilet cistern and hot water heater. An unfathomable heating system - which I never did master. Breakfasts were provided & were pretty basic - the saving grace was the arrival at 8.15 of the local bakery's wonderful baguettes and delicious cheese. Dinners - which were not inexpensive - were very limited & poor quality. Our group had to remind the owners several times during our multiple day stay to empty the rubbish bins in the toilets which were used to dispose of used toilet paper. (We had been asked not to put it into the toilets.) Very unsanitary! We also had to ask to resupply toilet paper. The share shower rooms and toilets are literally old-school with unsanitary looking shower curtains, mouldy grout and leaking handbasins. Many of the rooms open directly into a common room - so noise and privacy are problems. There are only a couple of rooms I understand that have their own bathroom - so if you want to stay - be sure you know in advance what room you are getting. The grounds are lovely, and the surrounding countryside is magnificent. Would I stay there again - Not until the hygiene of the place was MUCH improved and only if I had a room with my own bathroom. And I'd probably bring my own food. Or maybe I'll just go camping ;-) I wish the owners well - they have a wonderful vision for the place - but they need to get the basics sorted.

We had high expectations based on the shares of Aletheia Sophia (one of the owners). The accommodation is far away from the impressions we got from her shares.||First of all we had no idea that there is only one bathroom and toilet for one floor. I looked again at the Les Contes websites, there is no mention about it.||Aletheia overbooked the rooms, never even appeared to take responsibility.||Her husband and partner Pete is a really kind and amazing host, who tried to handle all situations (eg. the very poor breakfast, the not enough dinner, and the rude behavior of the kitchen staff). I think our group did not rebel and created a huge issue because of the kind heart of Pete.||The cleanness of the property needs a lot of improvement. And definitely it is not the task of the guests to wash their dishes after meals.||Nature around the property is amazing.||But the property itself needs a lot of renovations and improvement.

If you’re looking for heart, soul, beauty authenticity, community and belonging - this is the place for you. I came away after five nights feeling touched by love. Thank you for having me. ❤️‍🩹🔥🌷🙏🥰

The folks that run Les Contes are very special. The place has a relaxed vibe. The atmosphere is magical. The grounds are stunning.

An amazing welcome and a fabulous place to be with a great quality breakfast. Don't expect an en suite, do expect a a place with amazing character:-)
