We stayed for one night and it was our second visit since 2017. Lobby and rooms have been renovated since. Public underground parking with semi direct access to the hotel is at discounted rate (once reception validates it) at 10 Euros per day and you pay with the card by the exit gate. ||We had a room on the rear side with opening window. It was really peaceful at night. Housekeeping standard was high, privilege room as usual is France had soft drinks in the fridge as well as bathrobe and slippers and iron/ ironing board. Nespresso coffee and tea facilities. There is water station by the lift. Walking in shower/ not bath.||It is 7 min walk to the main square and shopping streets. Monoprix with well stocked clothing and food section is very close to the hotel so you won’t carry your bottles for long. I also saw Leclerc outside of the centre. Arras is for one night, no more, unless you use it as a base to explore by nearby train.||Overall I can’t fault this Mercure and young people working there are nice.
Updated to reply to Hotel: EV charging place was empty for several hours after we arrived, hotel reception told me that the space was reserved, there was no car in the space. So clearly SOME can reserve this space. Against hotel policy. Retuned to visit this hotel after a ok visit last year. Standards have dropped! 1) EV charged was reserved on arrival even tho hotel policy clearly states this is not possible. We managed to negotiate access to the holiday inn charger. It seems this does not apply to all guests. 2) the car that parked next to us parked over the line making it impossible to get my self or my 4 year old child in the car at 3am. Forcing me to climb over into the drivers seat from the other side at 3am!!! Reception knew who the owner was suggesting this behaviour is common by this complete clown of a customer. 3) homeless person sleeping at hotel entrance to car park made very uncomfortable experience with a child. Hotel was unable to contact security… 4) a lot of noise at night. Won’t be back.
The hotel is very well placed for visiting Arras, close to the Grand Place and other areas. Staff were very helpful throughout - reception staff gave us good recommendations on where to eat and the bar staff were very capable (one barman made an ace Negroni!). Breakfast was a bit of a struggle because the hotel was fairly full, and dinner on one night was not the best (dry chicken replacing a beef dish that they could not provide). Room was comfortable and well equipped, and the hotel was generally very clean.
We had a minor issue with the toilet in our room, but the staff handled it professionally and quickly. They changed our room and even provided a complimentary minibar (juice and drinks) as a gesture of apology. I was very impressed by their responsible and attentive service. Highly recommended!
We were en route to the coast and arrived late and left early. We wished we could have stayed longer to make the most of the games available in the attractive bar area for the benefit of the child with us . The warm and jolly welcome from reception was very appreciated , as was the attitude of the bar and restaurant staff who were attentive and friendly and took great care over our granddaughter's peanut allergy. To overcome a delay with dessert in the evening meal dessert was brought to our room. at our request. Underground car-parking in a public car-park with direct access to the hotel was very convenient, though there were a few steps to negotiate in addition to the lift. Guests' lifts to the rooms were separately located away from reception and beside the restaurant. Slightly disorientating but not a problem
Good Location very quiet sound proofed room and we were upgraded to a premier room - needed little attention as some paint chipped -the only down side you couldn’t control the A/C yourself had to call reception to turn A/C on and off.
Brilliant base for exploring the memorials etc. This is also a great location for visiting Arras because it's a short walk to the centre. Everything is spotless and rooms are good. Only slight criticism is the food good fo with improving. The staff are absolutely excellent, especially Clem.
What a nice hotel at a very good price! An elevator straight up from the parking garage. Quick walk to the old squares. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Modern decor and such comfy beds. We speak a bit of French, and most of the staff spoke a bit of English so we muddled through nicely. The staff was so helpful we had a lovely, lovely stay. And the best part? Breakfast. Absolutely amazing. None of our group could find one negative thing to say about this property.
