Avis
Mount Ventoux via Bedoin is one of the bucket list iconic climbs for cyclists. The route to the summit is like a journey to a different planet moving from a village, to forest and to a barren moonscape. The route is very clean, well maintained and respected. I would suggest starting early in the morning circa 8/9. There are less cars and fellow cyclists. It means you stay cooler during the lower climb and warm enough as you gain altitude. Also you can have a less crowded descent as well. This is one of my favourite climbs. The summit is equipped with sufficient space and a small cafe for you to savour the accomplishment. There are also lots of photographers along the way that you can buy images from to capture the moment.
There are three different ways to climb to the top of Mont-Ventoux by bicycle. From Bédoin (21 km), it's a must-do because this is the route riden by the pros in less than one hour. From Malaucène (21 km) via Mont-Serin, a long, tough climb, often windy. But it's a fast and exhilirating downhill. From Sault (25 km), this is the most entertaining climb. Avoid weekends during the summer and public holidays because motorcycles, vans, RVs and cars spoil the usually quiet surroundings.
Incredible, you have just got to go to the top. Either by car, bike or walk.
A challenging but rewarding ride. Steep winding roads through beautiful forests, and as you near the summit the trees disappear revealing a barren landscape, finished with stunning views across Provence at the summit.
One of the best bike rides (from Bédoin) in my life so far. The stunning views are definitely rewarding.
Beautiful!
