Wonderful experience overall. Everything was well organized, the atmosphere was excellent, and the visit was truly enjoyable. Two hours is more than enough to see and enjoy everything at a comfortable pace. A place I would happily recommend and return to.
A perfect example of how creative museum curation can produce a miracle. This modern architectural masterpiece houses parts of the Louvre collection in 3 parts. The “river of time” with its eclectic choice of all time masterpieces, a temporary exhibition and a smaller space dedicated to an artist. You need at least two hours to walk the galleries, but you have a Cafe with snacks and a posh restaurant to fill your tank and enjoy this well proportioned museum. Don’t miss a walk through the Center of Lens and peek in its Art Deco train station. The “Le fleuve du temps” gallery is free access while the temporary has a paid entrance.
What can I say The Louvre-Lens is a stunning "satellite" of the Paris Louvre, located in the French town of Lens. Built on the site of a former coal mine, it's brilliant modern architecture and a less-crowded alternative to its Parisian parent. Its also a fascinating walk from the train station and they know how to accommodate wheelchairs, disabled etc- designed for everyone. The time room is fascinating.
Has a great time here, expecially in the temporary Gothic exhibition. Came to Lens from Lille on a daytrip specifically for this, and was not disappointed.
Great museum! Well worth a visit. There were a lot of visiters though, so we had to wait at certain rooms to see everything. Worth a visit if you love art!
Truly incredible museum. An amazing collection of striking artifacts, classical statues and iconic artwork. I also was pleasantly surprised to find that only for special events/exhibitions do you need a ticket, otherwise entry is totally free to see this absolutely incredible place. An absolute MUST if you're in the area.
Free admission, nice collection in a quiet place. There is additional exhibition that costs extra. Audio guide available for 2 euros.
Amazing museum, an unexpected discovery. Permanent exhibition is great and free. We especially liked Egyptian pieces. We also visited the temporary exhibition afterwards, underworld, which was 11 euro but definitely worth it. You can use the online audio guide on your phone for free. Don't forget to take your headphones. It is extremely informative. Not all pieces are marked so it is a bit difficult to find out if there is audio about a piece or not, but for the rest, it is one of the best guides I saw.
