DOMS PATRICE

We have visited several times and been served excellent food promptly. (I would recommend phoning to reserve a table as they are often fully booked). However today, Tuesday lunchtime, the service was very slow. Only one host was serving. We were not given any tap water or have our drinks order taken for a good 25 minutes, the food order was later still. Fortunately I had a water bottle with me as I was parched in the 35 degree heat 🥵 Anyway, having arrived at 12.45, the menu de jour was sold out, together with the only salad on the menu. Well is was a hot sunny day! Ordered the steak bien cuit, as it's usually still slightly pink elsewhere en France, but today it was almost burnt at the edges, so worth bearing in mind. The frites were the brown and slightly limp variety that seem to be common now. Not the crispy golden variety. Also, the bread didn't arrive, so I had to chase that up. All in all it was rather disappointing as we have had some good meals here in the past. Suffice to say, book ahead, arrive early if you're after the menu de jour, reserve a salad in advance (if it's a sunny day) and make sure you are not tight for time. Hopefully you will have a better experience than we did 🤞☺️

Staying on the lovely Camping de Courtes Vallee I absolutely had to try this gorgeous little bistro open only for morning coffee & lunch! I couldn't have been more happy with my choice - a totally delectable lunch of filet du porc mignons with beautifully sliced patate douce & a perfectly dressed salad paired with an excellent local rose followed by the most divine lemon mousse! Service was so good too on a busy Friday lunchtime! Great atmosphere in the delightful sunfilled courtyard of Le Vieux Relais! French lunch as it should be - simple completely delicious & all at a reasonable price!

Good food and great value for money. Huge portions. Was quiet on a Saturday night as well. Not many food option on mid-September but this one worked for us. Salad was huge as was the 3-cheese tartine. Try the local beers.

An interesting bar, obviously frequented a lot by locals. Beer and wine was nice, but we were a little disappointed that hot dishes were only served at lunchtime. So we had to have the cheese and meat platter. They were somewhat larger than we anticipated and we could have just ordered the mixed platter. However they were delicious and very generous

Super spot! Loved walking down to Le Bistrot for a coffee and so sad that we weren’t in Airvault longer to enjoy the delicious sounding menu. Will definitely be back when we return next time!

A perfect place to chill with a cold glass of beer. We love it here, and always recommend our guests to visit it too.

Excellent food and service with a smile. Probably best to reserve though - they turned away lots of people while I was eating their great steak. Highly recommended.

Lovely restaurant very atmospheric . Comprehensive menu with options with plat du jour. Worth a visit will definitely return.
