Tranquil, clean, comfortable, secure, parking, pool, garden, wildlife, breakfast, diverse guests yet still close to La Rochelle (4 mins train 5 mins bus). Bikes for hire. Beautiful beach. Aytre Plage is very popular with runners cyclists. Tom & Chantal are the perfect hosts, they will be able to advise "what's on". Highly recommend staying there and it's really inexpensive. Quiet but connected, we loved our stay there, we'll be back.

THOM was so nice, the place is amazing, quiet, he helps you with anything you need, he was the best landlord. Pretty close to La Rochelle just 14min bike and pretty close to the bus station “marais doux”

we have just arrived home after our second stay with chantal and tom. we agree with everything said in the other reviews. we feel like family rather than guests. spotlessly clean, delicious fresh breakfasts , wonderful warm pool. nothing is too much trouble and it is so relaxing in the beautiful garden. its good to be able to use the guest kitchen if you don't want to eat out every night. the bus service to la rochelle is excellent , only just over 1 euro a trip and they run every 20 mins. so much easier than driving and having to find a car park. already looking forward to our next visit

A fantastic oasis to stay. Tom and Chantal are fantastic hosts, making us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The pool and gardens were superb and it was much more relaxing than a city hotel. The beaches and isls surrounding were truly fantastic, we will return. Merci.

Modern and clean, with everything you need, including a warm welcome. Very near to the beach. A very social place with a good feeling.||||Tom (host), who speaks good English, made a special point of finding us (we were in the pool) to check that everything was OK as he wasn't there when we arrived and knew that we didn't speak much French. We had not been to France in the summer previously although we have been on many ski holidays in France. So this year we decided to give it a try for a week.||||We flew from East Midlands Airport via Ryanair to La Rochelle Airport. La Rochelle is situated halfway down the French Atlantic coast. We hired a car for the whole week as we wanted to explore the area rather than stay in one location.||||As we have mentioned in previous reviews on TripAdvisor, we do not favour chain hotels which can be impersonal and rather lacking in character. We prefer to stay in family owned accommodation -guesthouses and the like. We also need (free!) wireless internet so that we can keep in touch with our e-mails.||||We wanted to be close to, but not in, La Rochelle. Having hired a car, we did not want any parking problems and wanted to stay somewhere outside the city where parking was easy and free.||||Over recent years, we have always used TripAdvisor to help us find our accommodation. We have done this for holidays in Thailand, South Africa, Italy and parts of the UK and (so far!) we have never experienced disappointing or poor accommodation. Quite the contrary, on most occasions we have enjoyed brilliantly outstanding accommodation.||||On this occasion, during our search in TripAdvisor, we came across Locatlatique, located just a couple of miles outside la Rochelle in an area called Aytre. It seemed to tick all our boxes. The only thing that caused us to hesitate was the fact there had only been five reviews previously. However, they were all posted during the last 12 months, so we decided to progress our enquiry.||||And we are delighted that we did!||||Locatlatique did not have a direct link on the Trip Advisor website but it was a simple process to find the Locatlatique website on google and email the owner directly.||||My email to the owner Tom was answered quickly (he speaks perfect English), and we soon sorted our accommodation – with no hassle whatsoever.||||Prior

We were booked to stay one night. This was a fairly modern building, very clean, set in several acres with sun loungers, some shady trees and BBQ facilities. There was a large pool which was covered. Also for the use of guests was a fully equipped kitchen, again very clean and tidy. The proprietor was German who also spoke perfect English, he was friendly and helpful as were the other staff. Breakfast was continental, fresh and plentiful. It was close to La Rochelle but along a rural road that appeared to run parallel to the beach, slightly tricky to find in the dark and our satnav let us down. Print off a map before you go!
