L'ALBIZIA

A beautiful garden, full of pleasant surprises. Very imaginative design which breaks the area up into smaller spaces - you often can’t see other visitors so it feels like you have the place to yourself. Comfortable rooms, delicious locally sourced food and a welcoming host. A great place to stop for the night if cycling in the area.

We enjoyed our stay of 4 nights so very much. We had a wonderful room with a large terrace. The Domaine Albizia has a huge garden consisting of many small beautiful sections which are very inviting and making you curious. The owner Frederique is a landscape architect who designed and build these gardens. He is also a wonderful and caring host. Nothing is too much for him. The breakfest in the main building is also a lovely ecperience. We were glad we could have a conversation in English.

It,s very interesting place.|Not only for the garden but also for the Nice owner we met. |We particulary enjoy to share his passion and his life and we recommand this adress.|We also like this garden because of the numbers of différents variétés of plants and how they are assembled and the association with steel sculpture.

It has been 3 months since our stay, but the wonderful memories of Albizia will last a lifetime. My husband and two boys (ages 17 and 14) spent the Christmas holidays at Albizia. We are from the USA but previously lived in Germany and during that time we traveled to many countries and stayed at many rental properties. This one is at the top of our list. The house is set in the beautiful, Normandy countryside - spacious and expertly renovated and decorated, while still keeping its "old world" character. The gardens are spectacular, even in the winter. You feel like you were in a fairy tale, discovering unexpected surprises at every turn. The spa house is a luxurious pleasure and made us feel as if we were staying at a 5 star hotel. However, what made our holiday truly memorable was Frederic and Christophe. They both welcomed us into their home and went out of their way to help us with whatever we needed, especially since we are not fluent in French. From grocery shopping, to finding us a restaurant on Christmas Eve and church services, to inviting us to watch movies at their place -- they were always available to assist us. Their love and dedication to their home and property and providing the best possible experience for their visitors really shines through. We visited many sites while in Normandy, but we consider Albizia the highlight. Thank you both for making our Christmas one we will not forget! We hope to return someday. We stayed at Domaine Albizia during our recent trip to France and couldn't be happier. The gardens were beautiful and the accommodations were top notch. Frederic went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. We highly recommend to anyone looking for a great get-away outside Bayeux with easy access to the D-Day beaches.

Very disappointing! We drove two hours to visit this garden on a Saturday as Frederic’s own website clearly states it is open Wednesday to Sunday. It was closed but there was a sign outside saying “To visit the gardens ring this number”. We rang and spoke very briefly to Frederic who said “No, it is always closed on Saturday, it says so on my website”. No, it does not! See the photo of the web page I have posted on my profile.

Frederic is an amazing host!||The Albizia house is one of the best places I have ever been.||The comfort, the decoration and its elegant style, the lovely gardens and the location in Livry is ideal for star trips as its right at the middle of Normandy.
