Awesome restaurant and hidden gem! Don’t let the outer facade deter you. The food and service by the chef and waiter is outstanding. Ordered the local cassoulet, salad with duck gizzard, seafood platter, and dessert was wild berry cake with strawberries.
Food was great. I had the Complete meal; small salad with chicken, pork chop in a great tomato based sauce with potatoes, tiramisu for dessert. 18€. Wayne's course, charcuterie starter, Cassoulet for main, and chocolate mousse for dessert, 25€. Portions were very good sized, we left full and had to get a take away box for the Cassoulet.
Wonderful restaurant, down a back street off the main square. Waiter was so nice & friendly. Ambiance lovely - can be a "dress up" restaurant or "smart casual". Food is cooked over an open fire in the restaurant. Chef is lovely & finishes food (flambe, etc..) at the table. The food, the cooking, the serving & the wine-list are excellent - definitely one of the best restaurants in Carcassonne. Not expensive for this class of cooking & service.
We had a wonderful lunch there today. The "Menu Terroire" at 25 euros is expensive compared to Barcelona, but it was magnificent, and worth every centime. I had a cassoulet, which I'd wanted to try for years. It didn't disappoint.
Tucked in a backlane near the square, this is a great place to expereince open fire cookng. The steak! We went on a quiet week night and had no problem getting a table. I suspect that might be very different in August. Lovely staff, gut busting traditional food. Greta wine. What's not to like?
Unique restaurant, really welcoming and with a relaxed and pleasant environment. The main room is lit by an open fireplace where grilled meat and fish are cooked. The staff was very friendly and the cook came out to have a friendly chat with us. Among the various excellent dishes that we tasted in particular there were seafood, an incredible grilled salmon cooked in the fireplace and fantastic desserts. Really recommended!
Perfect restaurant and singular in every way. Very rustic atmosphere serving traditional dishes from the Sud Ouest including an absolutely massive Cassoulet, rillettes and outstanding soup of seasonal grilled vegetables. Meat is grilled in front of you on an old wood fire oven. Tartare and meat are equally sliced in the dining room. The cook and waiter are absolute legends in their own right and made it a memorable evening. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone finding themselves in Carcassone with an appetite. I came here with a group of eight people. We were very well taken care of and I shall certainly return on my upcoming trips to Carcassonne.
Amazing experience, it is a "treasure box" . Really nice local place with very delicious cousine and lively staff. Delicious food and good quality. 😍Very recommended!
