This park is in a lovely area, about 15 mins walk to the little village of Bidart, which is up the hill and has a few nice restaurants and bars (we watched the Euros at a small screen in Hotel du Fonton – staff kindly put Scotland game on for us). That was a theme for us in this area – nice and polite service and locals.|Campsite itself – quite a modest one, but the kids really couldn’t get enough of the flumes (there are three straight ones side by side and one curved one, that’s a bit slower). Then there’s quite an odd-shaped pool not ideal for proper swimming but nice for a leisurely few strokes. There’s a decent-sized bar/restaurant and terrace. We were there just before the high season so I’ve no idea if you’d want to book a table in advance – we didn’t need to. You can also order for the next day to collect croissants, pain au chocolat, and bagettes. There’s no shop on site, but Lidl and another larger French supermarket 5 mins drive, probably 15-20 mins walk.|We stayed through Eurocamp and although the rep isn’t always on site, she (Tamara) gave us her number and was round and about most days and helped us out with some questions with very nice manner and patience. I’m writing this review after staying in another campsite, La Rive with Eurocamp, so can now compare and considering how much cheaper Oyam was, we were pretty happy (at Oyam we didn’t cross over into the busy season but even if we had done, it’d still have been around 100 Euros difference per night). Accommodation in the two camps (Premium 3-bed) was pretty much identical but the Oyam accommodation was newer, cleaner, and much better equipped (cafetiere, capsule machine, several frying pans, usual kitchen stuff you’d hope for). Downside is that they are very tightly packed and our mobile home had a tent pitch area right beside it so on the last day someone was camping there and noise carried into our mobile home more than it would have it was another mobile home next to us. That’s one reason for no
We loved our stay in this campaign. It was awesome! we were in the lodge kind of tent and we thought it would be very hard but actually it was great because all of the facilities were very clean and working so well. Showers are very clean and everyone working at camping is so nice! Thank you very much! 🥳😎✨
We, the grandparents, travelled with our daughter's family : twins aged three and boy nearly five on 21/6 by cars. The mobiles were lovely although cramped and we'd been placeed opposite each other, as requested, to assist with childcare.|Y01 was a large pitch with plenty of playing out space :)|It was quiet in June with mainly French and very few young children. |No entertainment until 2/7 sadly so Uno every night! The pool although it looks lovely is a very impractical shape and only two sets of wide steps to get in and out so the kids generally ended up playing in a very small, cramped busy area. Definitely more (metal) steps required or you have to haul yourself out! Plenty of loungers but no umbrellas for shade.|The flumes were great but the sign says 'minimum age 8' /height. Fortunately no lifeguard in June so we used our discretion and safeguarded our own children's safety but they would have been VERY disappointed if no allowed on.|There's a big playground but not great for youngsters.|Fresh bakery items have to be ordered the day before. Our one and only Eurocamp rep was good but poor English.|Great location for beaches (best was Grande Plage in St Jean du Luz - use parking Grande Plage (underground) and you are very close to the beach, amenities and icecream :) Three large supermarkets within a couple of miles too. Go to Acotz for watching hangliders and surfing. Suddenly 1/7 the site became very busy.||
|We stayed here getting a deal through Eurocamp May half term and it was lovely.|The site was really nice lots of tress around the park and very clean. Pool just like the photos and as it was the start of the season it was very quiet. |We spent most days out visiting places, biarritz, San Sebastian, Bayonne and St Jean de luz. There is a cute funicular railway at San Sebastian which is a must for the view at the top and the beach there is lovely.|Shopping centre nearby to Bidart was really nice.|I would 100% recommend this park in May half term as quiet and no entertainment, I think it would be totally different in the peal season.
Let’s start with the good stuff: - large emplacements - great Eurocamp rep - good value for money - beautiful flowers and trees, immaculately kept However- - Service in the bar was very patchy. Said it closed at 9.30 (which is ridiculously early), though sometimes served beyond this. Loads of staff on but did little to keep customers. Didn’t even show all the Euro games! Having been to lots of other campsites we missed having the bar as a social centre & it felt like a missed opportunity for the campsite to provide better service & make profits! - No shop on site. This was an issue for us as the shop in Bidart was tiny, closed at 8pm and was a 15 min walk away. The supermarkets were a 30 min uphill walk. - Entertainment programme started 1st July. Site was already busy so would be good to make this earlier. Pool party was great for the teenagers. But no adverts/communications as to what was on when. Other sites put posters up. : Transport. Bus stop is a 15 min walk away. Buses to Biarritz are only every hour and stop early evening. Buses to Bayonne/Biarritz airport/St Jean De Luz are every 30 mins and last one back from the latter is around 9.30pm. So you really are stuck in Bidart at night, which is tiny, without a car. Overall - a lovely site but I would only recommend it if you have a car with you. If going back with my family, I’d opt to stay in St Jean de Luz instead.
We booked fairly last minute with Canvas holidays and were only able to get a 2 bedroom Mobile with out a bathroom, price was good. The Mobile was very clean with a fridge, 2 ring gas hob, microwave and coffee machine ( no kettle) bed rooms were small but the beds were comfortable, there was garden furniture with a parasol. The camp was excellent, showers and facilities were very clean, the pool was brilliant, the restaurant and bar area was top class, the staff were helpful and pleasant. There is a regular bus from out side the camp to the village €2 for 24hrs, and from the village you can get to Biarritz or St Jean. It’s a short walk to the village approx 5-10 minutes although the area is hilly, it’s a beautiful camping park and Bidart is beautiful. the beaches are excellent, all in all it was a lovely relaxing trip, and we are planning on returning next year, apparently the camping park gets very busy later in the season.
We're a family of four (2 adults + 2 teens) and we loved staying at Camping Oyam. The Staff was very friendly and the location was pretty well kept and mantained. The pool and the mini-water park was great, with plenty of space for everyone. A short walk to Bidart's centre and local beaches. |
Very nice camp, well kept, nice staff. Excellent pool, great for kids and adults alike (though it could do with some parasols for shade). Really enjoyed the exercise classes given by Flo each morning. Nice onsite restaurant, but no shop. Accommodation was excellent value and well maintained.
