French Connection Made Our Dream of Living France a Reality We had dreamed about having a house in France for many years, especially after a visit to France on vacation. During COVID we decided we wanted to start the process of purchasing in France, but it was only when we started working with French Connections that it all started to come together. Originally, we just wanted their help in finding a property to buy that was move-in ready. Living in the US, we had rejected any notion of doing renovations because of the distance, the language barrier, and the uncertainty. When we visited France in September 2021 to look at properties, we saw a 200-year-old property that was truly everything we wanted – in a village with all the amenities, no outdoor space to worry about, enough room, and the right price … everything that is, except for the fact that it was “a bit of a bomb site.” Having been unloved and vacant for about 50 years, it was a mess (to put it mildly). French Connections drafted 3D plans and a not-to-exceed budget for us. We said “YES!!” right away and their crew started work in October installing all new plumbing, electrical, heating & air conditioning, kitchens, and bathrooms. They preserved the features we loved so much – original flooring, a gorgeous spiral staircase, and the stonework on the front walls, while renovating those parts that weren’t salvageable. Throughout the process they kept us up to date with videos, Zoom calls, and photos. Everything was ready on time and on budget – and you can’t ask for much more than that! In May 20222, we moved in and now spend about half of our year in southwest France, in a village we love, and surrounded by many wonderful neighbors we have gotten to know. As we always tell people, owning a home in France is easier and less expensive than you think it is.
