5.0 Marie Diez

Excellent lunch experience at Restaurant Ivan Vautier. The €52 lunch menu was honestly impressive for the level of cuisine, presentation, and service. Every dish felt refined but still generous and comforting in that very French way. The asparagus velouté with perfectly cooked egg was delicate and full of flavor, the fish was beautifully cooked, and the desserts were outstanding — especially the Saint-Honoré inspired creation with Normandy apple, salted butter caramel, and cider notes. Even the petits fours at the end were memorable. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, service was polished and warm throughout, and you can tell there is real attention to detail in every part of the experience. A fantastic stop in Caen and absolutely worth it if you appreciate refined French cuisine without unnecessary fuss.

Excellent service and staff as expected. The food on the Chef's menu was delicious and presented to excellence. The booking was handled well by the management staff and they were friendly and forthcoming for any specific requirements.

Food is great but the service oh my goodness. It is terrible and it felt like a funeral. And you can even notice it from the people. Like one tall server who is bald seem really uncomfortable. I am sorry but this is a no go

Restaurant Ivan Gautier, Caen, Normandy, FRANCE A la carte or any of three menus available. We chose the 'chef's choice' menu where all courses were a total surprise, selected by the chef. LE MENU (translated to English by Lionel, Reception) Appetizer : Norman “bleu” cheese emulsion ( Made in La Talboisière close to Tinchebray ) - parsley sorbet – “bleu” cheese crackers Starter : Seabream – Nori – juice and cream shrimps Fish : Cod fish rubbed with salt – sea spinach – mustard seed, onions and capers Meal : Piece of veal collected from rib steak – coffee juice and lemon verbena emulsion – small grenaille potatoes with verbena pesto – verbena crumble Dessert : Ice parfait with thyme on crusty hazelnut biscuit – peach coulis – avocado ice cream – crude and baked peach marmalade – milk and hazelnut emulsion.

Fantastic restaurant! It's magic on plates, see for yourself in our chosen (lobster) menu. Very kind staff, they do not make you wait like some other michelin restaurants do. Did not speak much English, but they did their absolute best to understand and help us when we needed it. Very much recommend to visit. **If you do not like crowds, go midweek, we were there on a Thursday evening, and at their busiest, there were 6 tables. We started out alone. **And watch it with the bread...it's criminally good!

The service was outstanding, but specially the young brunette waitress who really did an effort to explain to me every dishes she served in English (I don't know French). We had de "I trust the cheff menu" and it was delicious; however, what we enjoyed the most was the dessert, a litchi fruit served on a spoon that melted in your mouth with an explosion of flavors. The rest of the menu was good, even risky at some points, but not so surprising. It has to be said that we left completely full. Overall, it was a great experience: good food and excellent service.

Good food and great service. Unfortunately that day I was in a hurry and was only able to stay for 1 hour, but the staff was very flexible, understandable, and was able to serve my lunch within that time range.

We did the chef's menu. It was creative and delightful. The mackerel was delectable. All other dishes were well prepared and exceptionally plated.
