We had lunch at Daniel et Denise and I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance, as the restaurant filled up very quickly. The service was consistently friendly, attentive, and efficient – we felt very well taken care of throughout our visit. Since we really wanted to try traditional Lyonnaise cuisine in a bouchon, our expectations were quite high – and they were absolutely met. The food was outstanding. What impressed us most were the sauces, which are often the highlight of French cuisine: incredibly flavorful and perfectly balanced. I can especially recommend the chicken with morel mushrooms – it was a true highlight. One small note: we were there with a baby and a stroller, and due to the limited space, it was a bit inconvenient. However, that was our only minor criticism. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience that we would happily repeat.

Charming historic Lyonnaise bouchon. While most of the food was not to my preference that was not a knock on the food. Everything looked wonderful and ingredients fresh. It was a new type of food for me and glad to try it. I sat near the kitchen and from what I saw it was spotless. Service was incredible. So patient and willing to explain everything in English even though that wasn’t expected.
Completely obsessed with both the service and the food by far the best we experienced in France. Forget any restaurant in Paris where you have to work hard just to get average service. Here we were treated beautifully from start to finish and ate the best food of our lives. Do not miss the quenelle de brochet and the pate en croute🌟🌟🌟
We’re only sad that the highest rating isn’t a 6! We had a wonderful experience. Not speaking French well, our server helped guide us to a meal w shared salads, veal-stuffed morels, liver, and topped w crème brûlée. Enjoyed a bottle of beaujolais with the meal.
A superb place for dinner right in the heart of the old town of Lyons. Busy, bustling and very French, all the dishes were excellent and done to a very high standard. We over-ordered but ultimately finished almost everything as it was so tasty and flavourful.
We didn’t make any reservation beforehand and was soooo lucky to get a table when we walk in. The lady (probably the restaurant manager in charge) was so kind to give us a table, although we had to finish within an hour (give and take 😊). The food was absolutely impressive. We ordered what was recommended and we loved it! The beef was also cooked to perfection that I kept screaming in my heart each time I take a bite. The staff were all so attentive and friendly too! Love this restaurant.
Food is delicious. The restaurant vibe is French bistro type, classic and cozy. Need reservations for sure during weekends. Entrees (both pate en croute & mushroom eggs) were delicious. For the main dish, pork belly was good but the beef shoulder was a bit dry.
