Stopped in for a light lunch, and had wonderful escargot and chèvre flan salad. The restaurant is beautiful inside, the service was wonderful and food was all delicious

Where you live, is there 1 restaurant that everybody needs to visit at least once❓ I couldn't name 1 in Barcelona. I mean I have my favorites, but I'm sure they're not my wife's or my neighbor's. And nobody will ever tell you that you've never been to BCN if you haven't visited 1 specific restaurant. Nîmes is way smaller so there's less offer. Still, I was amazed by the number of people I met in very few hours who recommended Le Cheval Blanc (@wine.bar.nimes). Basically everybody we talked to. 😳 Maps not so much, though. 🤔 We didn't know where to go for dinner so we decided to give it a try. I loved the atmosphere, between that of a traditional brasserie and a 🍷 wine cellar. Makes sense cause this restaurant also is a wine bar. I don't drink wine so that part was not of my interest, though. 😅 We shared some snails 🐌, eggs mayo 🥚, and a charcuterie board 🥓, then we all had a main. I chose the lentils and ham hock. Actually I was about to order the tartare but my wife suggested I had the lentils and I thought, yeah, why not, for a change. 🤷 I think that was a mistake cause I didn't find the lentils super flavorful and the meat was good... for the parts I could taste cause it was mainly skin. I love crispy pork skin. Fluffy gelatinous pork skin not at all. My wife loved that dish. I did not. 😐 She had a steak 🥩 that was well cooked, tasted ok (not great) but wasn't so tender. My son had 🐖 pig's trotters. Do you know many kids who eat snails as a starter and pig's trotters as a main dish? 😂 He seemed to like them. Then we shared 1 dessert: a baked Alaska (and it was baked Alaska day! 😇). It was ok. In general, IMO, everything was just ok. Even the service. I mean, they were nice but pretty slow and they literally forgot us after the mains. 🙄 We paid €35 each (no wine). Basically as much as for lunch but the type of food we had wasn't the same at all. Pig's trotter, eggs mayo, lentils aren't exactly fancy dishes... So I find it a bit pricey... 👎 That was an ok experience

Incredible good food, service and value. 16 euro for the generous portion lunch menu (2 course + wine). Service is as good as when we had the more expensive menu a few day's ago.

Stopped for lunch here on a friend’s recommendation and absolutely loved this restaurant. Cozy warm interior, very friendly service and incredible salted cod dish named “Brandade de morue” which is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. We also had the homemade tapenade which was excellent. The wine list is huge, with an excellent choice of high end French and international. There is also a good menu for wines by the glass and pichets. There was a great looking cheese trolley that we didn’t have time to experience but I’d love to go back one day soon!

Beautiful interiors. The place was super busy on Saturday night but they managed to squeeze me in without a reservation. Food was fantastic and excellent value for money. Friendly staff.

The appetizers and main dishes we ordered were very mediocre. We were not enjoying our dining experience here. Then desserts arrived---a generous platter of profiteroles drenched in warm chocolate sauce and the very best dark chocolate tart we've ever tasted. We would come back to eat these desserts.

Wonderful food, VERY generous portions, efficient service! Thank you for making our last night in the South of France a wonderful one. The dinner we had here was our favourite one of the trip so far. The foie gras was my favourite, and the dessert of strawberries in rose wine, a great end to the meal! TLDR: wonderful, highly highly recommend.
