We stayed in the L’Ecrin de Jade ”luxury” apartment for 8 people. The service was extremely poor from the very start. Right after booking, they tried to pressure us through multiple calls and emails into cancelling our reservation with Hotels.com and booking directly with the hotel instead. The front desk was completely ignorant during the check in process, we all felt they were rude (maybe since we didn’t change our booking), they tried to charge us for cleaning that was included and the spa toiletries that were advertised as included were not, instead we were supplied with a combined ”hair and body wash” and nothing else. The worst was when the fire place glass exploded one morning (untouched), causing considerable danger to all of us in the chalet. Instead of apologising, they left glass shards all over the living room (even after cleaning) presented us with an invoice and suggested we commit insurance fraud by claiming it with our insurance. Definitely NOT worth the money, and a bad experience for the eight of us. Chamonix is full of genuinely luxurious places to stay. This is not one of them. Save your money and your family’s safety.
What a fabulous stay! We cant wait to return. |We were only two persons and had booked a one bedroom apartment however on arrival we were upgraded to a two bed. The second bedroom was not needed but the additional space gratefully received, and the second bathroom also a treat. |The apartment was comfortable and homely. ||The staff on reception was incredibly helpful and a pleasure to deal with, especially Phillippe who was full of life and a great humour to him.||Before arrival I had some worries regarding noise having read previous reviews but we honestly weren’t bothered by noise at all. We were located on the second floor in Chalet A and it was very peaceful… I’m not entirely convinced there was anyone else in the place it was so quiet!|We were facing the main road but providing the windows were closed this didn’t bother us at all (but we do live in a city and are used to traffic noise)…perfectly fine in winter!|It was a little warm in the apartment when we arrived but that was easily resolved by turning down the heating. No need to have the windows open at night so we didn’t notice any traffic noise at all. ||The facilities in the apartment were great, enough utensils to cater for in the kitchen. Basic supplies of tea and coffee for your arrival and there are loads of shops in walking distance for food supplies. |The bed comfortable, the apartment clean, there was really nothing to complain about. ||If I really had to find some negatives… The TV remote was missing in the bedroom. No major issue as the living room remote worked on the bedroom tv! If I could have been bothered to tell reception I am sure they would have provided another (they were incredibly helpful and willing to please so I expect they would have resolved)|As with most hotels we have experienced, there; s a lack of conveniently placed plugs in the bedroom… but it didn’t affect our stay. |The water pressure on the shower a little low but the water always lovely and hot! |No Engli
Pretty and clean but SO noisy January 2025 We were greeted warmly by Arnoud when we arrived and shown to our apartment B03 which was very pretty, cosy and lovely and clean. We really loved the location of the Le Cristal de Jade as it's not in the centre of Chamonix so quieter, the pool area was gorgeous and the gym was great, and we initially loved the apartment. However, the apartments are clearly NOT soundproofed. We were kept awake every single night that we were in B03 which was 5 awful nights. We raised the issue multiple times with Reception (Arnoud, Joanna, Fanny Sherpa and also the Director) asking if we could please move rooms. They said nothing was available and that they would talk to the people in the apartments above us. If they did talk to them it changed absolutely nothing. On Thursday I lost a day of our holiday as I didn't go out all day as I was utterly exhausted. I'd had about 2 hours sleep during the previous night. People were banging doors and making loads of noise all night long and it was almost impossible to catch up on sleep during the day (when I'd hoped everyone would be out) as it was still really noisy. I was so distressed and so tired by then I ended up in Reception in floods of tears telling them how awful it'd been and that I couldn't even catch up on sleep during the day as it was still so noisy. I had a real meltdown as the whole thing felt unbearable and a real waste of £2000 for the week's accommodation. I was told the manager would deal with it when she came in at 2pm. We were finally moved that evening to the 2nd floor. Grateful as I was to be leaving B03 the 2nd floor apartment was still really noisy but not as bad during the night. We had 2 nights there of a 7 night stay and I got some sleep but it was still broken sleep by people coming and going all night. The manager even acknowledged during a conversation with my husband that the apartments are known to have an issue with noise! If they know that then th
Overall good experience staying at Le Cristal de Jade for a week. We stayed one week in February, in a one-bedroom in building A (floor 3). The location was great, close enough to walk most places in Chamonix but not too loud with people. Unfortunately the road noise was very noticeable in our building, street facing and top floor. It was winter so we didn't open windows or use the balcony. The parking garage is and fit our SUV with roofbox. For electric car parking you would have to bring the wall-plug adapter. Petfriendly was a big perk with our cats. The spa was nice, with a very hot sauna and hammam. The jacuzzis are more on the lukewarm side. Longer open hours would be nice and the one morning we tried to use the spa nothing was on/hot. The apartment had nice finishes. Decent space, but a very small kitchen. The two biggest issues were with the room: 1. The shower is flat out awful. It's in a tub, with no glass, and mounted to the short side of the wall. As an average sized woman standing I could only get my waist wet with shower head. Literally had to sit or kneel in the tub, or hold the sprayer in my hand. This is probably only an issue in the top floor apartments but really, a big frustration to not be able to shower easily. 2. Mold. There was black mold growing in both skylights, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom. Gross. We kept the skylights closed to try and minimize our exposure. Our apartment was also dim and poorly lit. Maybe with the skylights open it'd have been better, but at night it was not easy at all to see in the apartment. The bedroom didn't have a light in the closet and there weren't bright enough lights to read a book on the couch. We would consider staying here again but not in the one bedroom apartment to avoid the above issues, possibly only in that specific apartment. Our friends stayed in a two-bedroom and didn't have lack of light or crap shower.
We spent a week here in January. The reception staff were very helpful and polite. It’s in a great location with excellent facilities. The ski lockers were great. Pool, Steam room and Sauna were all clean and modern. Overall we can’t fault the stay. Definitely recommend.
LOL at some of the negative reviews. This is a question of reading comprehension, nothing else. THIS IS NOT A HOTEL. At no point does it say it is a hotel. At no point does it market itself as a hotel. If the people reviewing this as a hotel took a moment to read the website before booking this they may have realized as much. What it is, is privately-owned apartments (e.g. different people own each individual apartment), all leased to and managed by MGM, but with a spa, a pool, a gym, a bar, a pastry delivery service, and yes, if you pay for it, cleaning. Because, you know, if you book an apartment, NOT A HOTEL, cleaning isn’t generally included 🙄. On that note, if anything the bad reviews are testament to how good this is: the apartment amenities are so good it has some people absolutely convinced that it’s a hotel.
Absolutely the best apartment we have ever stayed in totally with the price would highly recommend and will be revisiting
This is our second year at the Cristal de Jade during summer season in Chamonix, and it did not not disappoint. We have stayed in Chalet A each time, and it's been wonderful. Highlights are the rooms – generous, comfortable, and well-apportioned. Good closet space, and great bathrooms / en suites. (One caution for summertime visitors might be the road noise on the outward facing rooms. We had one of those last year. It didn't bother me so much, but I can see how it might be loud if one is sleeping with the windows open and sensitive to noise.) The kitchen has a full fridge and freezer, induction hob, and a combine oven/microwave oven. We cooked both quick meals like pizzas here, as well as hosted more involved full meals roasting local meat, cheese, and potatoes with wines. The terrace was absolutely stunning in the morning, with a view up to the Brevent side, to Brevent itself. The gym / sauna / pool facilities are wonderful. Clean and easily-accessible. The building is secure, and the staff very friendly. The hotel is both EV-friendly, with 3-pin charging points for overnight charging, and dog-friendly. The location is fantastic. Right in the middle of town. Near the Carrefour, the Mont Blanc side lift, and near all the restaurants and nightlife one could be looking for. I've had a really good time at this the Cristal de Jade, and look forward to returning again – and checking out MGM's other properties in Les Houches and beyond.. Many thanks all.
