We enjoyed a lovely lunch at this picturesque restaurant which is a bit like a big tree house! On Sunday they had a wonderful singer creating a lovely atmosphere.
Craved for frogs legs & found this cozy place just by the bank of the Saône River in the small village of Saint Bernard. Chez Bibet started out as a "guinguette" back in 1926 & slowly turned from a riverside café to a bistrot & restaurant over the years. Good value for money; with about 300 seatings on the terrace overlooking the water front, reservation's not to be overlooked on Mother's day & in summer 😉 Staff is very courteous, attentive and familiarly warm.
I had a beautiful dinner, where the staff offered the famous frog legs on the house to try. The food was great and the staff very friendly. Even though it was raining, the warm lights inside and the cozy familiar atmosphere turned it into a very special night. I would definitely recommend.
On a very hot day, we were seated outside at the end of the deck facing the Saône river, as requested. The staff was friendly and efficient, I have rarely seen water coming that fast. Food was good and well prepared, we had beef and salmon tartare and both were freshly made alike the French fries. We also had the matured butcher's piece with a wine sauce that was perfectly made so that it wouldn't prevent us to actually taste the meat. Wine was also good even though we did not take the most expensive one (Vaqueras) and Chablis.
Delightful meal with good service, ambiance and exceptionally good food. I was one of about 20 people who were served a surprisingly great salad with layers of flavors, followed by an equally delicious chicken dish. The price was great for the food quality, ambiance and service. I would definitely recommend you give it a try.
Amazing experience all around. CheZ Bibet has been a regional institution since 1929. I went there as a kid and had fond memories of the food as well as the atmosphere. Going back 25 years later and the place which now has new owners, is as fantastic as before. The space is large with many indoor and outdoor settings, and has some spaces for kids (and adults) to play with pétanque or cornball. The food is gorgeous! Bibet has a deep a la carte offering and 2 tasting menus which are well priced and offer a variety of tastes. I went for the tuna tataki, which was absolutely delicious and the frogs legs which were prepared to perfection. Desert were mostly ice creams for our party. The wine list is simple but has may great well priced bottles. Lastly, service is attentive and caring. Well done keeping such a beautiful place open and maintaining it's simple yet very high quality.
We have gone to the restaurant many times; knowing the popularity we always book. This past sunday june 4th Mother’s Day in france we booked several days ahead telling them we are bringing 3 aged mothers + us which made 6 people ; because it is located by the river we asked to be put with a view to the river. Also they had apparently someone playing gypsy music. They assured us no problem and, you can now see the story unfold, we were placed in a room, all by ourselves, yes with good service, but it was just us looking at four walls forcing us to talk about death and old age. Some celebration. In french they say “ plaisir des yeux “ talking about your plate ; that’s ok but the ambiance was not present. For us it diminished the taste of the little frogs. “. It’s too bad it is a good restaurant
Nice place to have a coffee in sunny afternoon
