When we arrived there was a lady which gave us a cold welcome. We didn’t have any booking for a visit. We wanted to try some wines to buy but they said it was not possible. So we moved on to the next winery.

It's a small winery, but our host Canelle was fantastic. She gave the tour in English, was extremely helpful regarding recommendations for the nearby town and of course shared plenty of wine for tasting. It was excellent value.

Not only was the wine excellent, but the tour was so informative, the vineyard is beautiful and Canelle, the owner, was absolutely amazing. I broke my foot earlier in the week and she was so accomodating, provided suggestions for restuarants, places for us to leave our bags, and generally was just excellent. I am extremely grateful for all her help and couldn't reccomend the wine tasting more, cannot wait to open the bottles we bought when we return to england! Thankyou Canelle!

Escaping the hot afternoon at Cassis, we booked the vineyard tour at La Dona Tigana. A taxi ride from the port of Cassis costed us only 10 euro, which was a good choice since it's not recommended to walk along the roadside up to the vineyard. We booked an English tour but since we were only two persons, and there was also a French couple, the four of us were combined in one tour. Our tour guide from La Dona Tigana did the tour in both languages, explaining everything twice. This was actually not bad at all, since it gave us time to look around and process everything while the other two listened to the explanations in French! Great coincidence, actually! The tour was very nicely presented and it was super interesting to learn something about the wine making in the region of Cassis. After the walk around the cellar, we tasted the three wines of the estate (we liked the cuvée prestige the most!). We enjoyed the whole visit a lot! And thanks again, for the great support of arranging a transfer back to the station! We actually caught our train back to Marseille! :-)

A visit at La Dona Tigana with a tour around grape fields and basements guided by a very friendly Canelle along with local high quality wine tasting were the best part of our day in Cassis. An obligatory point at every must have list in Southern France!

A big thank you to Mr. Tigana & his lovely daughter to show us their vineyard, although the reservation by tourist office was not transmitted to the Tigana family. That is what I call hospitality.
